Great answers Marlingford.
You did well avoiding ‘reality’ TV when it was in its infancy and little was known about it. Not only intrusive but these things are selectively edited to make people look how they decide they want them to look.
My McCoy, Balding and O’Sullivan logic seriously let me down!
February 5, 2024 at 08:15 #1680006Blimey!
I won!
CAS makes an excellent point and actually I had already stated earlier in the thread at the time that, if I won again, I’d like to donate my turn to ERL for the reasons CAS states and that remains the case please.
ERL, you have the stage, sir – you know the rules! (we all do by now)
Fantastic set of ten, Marlingford, thank you.

February 5, 2024 at 08:35 #1680009Good questions and answers Marlingford,
I went with false on the McCoy one as its possible to be blocked by someone else and not know about it.. that was my logic anyway..
Deaf Jon was a member of elite racing. They sold Marsha for a million quid and he didn’t receive a penny. I know hes not a member now as he hasn’t posted any of the little books they send him through my letter box

February 5, 2024 at 09:47 #1680019CAS, re my membership of Elite, I was a member for over a decade and really enjoyed it. It was a very affordable way of gaining a deeper involvement in racing, and they kept you very well informed. There was also a strong social element to it with stable visits, days at the races etc.
However, with so many thousands of members, it was never going to provide any significant financial return. You also had minimal input or control, and that is what led me to leaving eventually as I was unhappy when one of the star horses, Dandino, was sold off to race overseas.
But I do not want to sound negative about my membership as it gave me a great deal of pleasure. It was an inexpensive way of feeling more involved in the sport when pricier options were unobtainable to me.
February 5, 2024 at 10:04 #1680021Thanks Marlingford. I am not concerned about getting any sort of financial return but the issues around the sale of Dandino and Marsha do bother me a bit.
I take it the advertised fee is all you pay? No hidden charges etc.
February 5, 2024 at 10:48 #1680022There were no hidden charges CAS, though there were optional items that involved paying extra such as hospitality events.
Back when I was a member, your cost was actually lower than the annual fee as you received a (very small!) share of the prizemoney won. It looks like they have stopped that, though there now appears to be a loyalty scheme where the membership fee reduces on renewal.
February 5, 2024 at 11:21 #1680024Okay, I’ll do my best. However as I’m at the Hospital today for a few hours, it might take me 1-2 days to recover and do my ten statements. I hope that’s okay with you.
Otherwise I’ll give the chance to Richard88 to come up with his statements and I’ll do mine after his round.February 5, 2024 at 13:12 #1680030Good to see ERL get his turn.
He was also joint runner-up (with BigG) to me in Nathan’s tiebreak; so fully deserves it.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 5, 2024 at 13:19 #1680033Hope all goes well with your hospital visit ERL. If you are being medicated perhaps that will help with coming up with some fantastical stories!
February 5, 2024 at 13:34 #1680038I’ll only say three letters – BCG – and that it still hurts afterwards despite the local sedation.
It’s my third treatment with three more to come in a weekly interval.
February 5, 2024 at 13:48 #1680042I had to Google that; it doesn’t sound pleasant.
Wishing you well, Ruby.
February 5, 2024 at 14:26 #1680046Wishing you a speedy recovery, ERL, then….ten fiendish statements!

I’ll have my 10 statements by tomorrow, however the bigger challenge is to get the five false ones about you than the true ones.February 5, 2024 at 19:36 #1680081My very best wishes to you ERL. I too had to look it up.
Funnily enough, in trying to think of what I’ll eventually put up, I’m finding the lies easier to come up with.
February 5, 2024 at 22:50 #1680093Hope you are well soon Ruby,
