this is shaping like a dire renewal for me. i’m struggling to think of a four year old which has impressed me over hurdles, which is the complete opposite of the supreme.
with the market principals looking so vulnerable, it looks like the kind of completely open race which could throw up a 66-1 shock

Our Conor
February 11, 2013 at 13:57 #429253Hi MarkTT,
You are right. Chatterbox is the representative for the Henderson stable. Still be a big ask for Lac Fontana to beat him given his thumping of My Tent Or Yours. Still hopeful of a big run though!!
Chatterbox is 5. Supreme Novices and a big price!

Our Conor
I thought that was a pretty soft race the other day, and would be more than happy to take on our connor at cheltenham, though I could well be wrong.
February 11, 2013 at 20:46 #429304hi printersraces,
Don’t think Chatterbox going for the Supreme. Henderson says may be a year too soon and they’ve got MTOY.
Elgeansenor1,
Agree that this race still waiting on something bursting onto the scene. Still hoping it’ll be Lac Fontana in the Adonis after his promising run on Saturday. Fingers crossed!
February 11, 2013 at 22:01 #429318well mordin seems impressed by our connor.
OUR CONNOR JUST HAS TO WIN THE TRIUMPH AFTER THIS HUGE RUN
OUR CONNOR (41) earned the biggest speed rating I’ve given a juvenile hurdler since Detroit City when demolishing his rivals to take the Grade 1 Spring Juvenile Hurdle at Leopardstown by five lengths. The strong, good-bodied gelding was moving a lot better than his rivals from a long way out and cruised clear to win comfortably.
There aren’t many juvenile hurdlers that have as good a physique for jumping as Our Connor has. And it’s been a long time since we saw one run as fast.
For comparison Champagne Fever completed the last two miles of the Grade 1 Deloitte Novice Hurdle 2.26 seconds slower than Our Connor, and Champagne Fever was not running slow.
I have a hard time seeing how anything can beat Our Connor in the Triumph following this huge run. He’s hosed up in all three of his starts over timber and had the juvenile who’d previously earned the biggest speed rating from me this season over nine lengths back in third.
Runner up DIAKALI (39) is fast enough to win almost any Triumph Hurdle on my ratings. But after setting a strong gallop he was easily outrun by the winner from the last. He had romped home in his previous two hurdles outings and looks well capable of winning a Grade 1 juvenile hurdle.
Third placed RUACANA (37) was outrun by the first two and struggled to take third on the run in until his stamina seemed to kick in. He’s more of a nippy Aintree sort than the first two so I don’t see him as a serious threat in the Triumph. Seeing that he stayed two miles on the flat and kept on so strongly after undergoing a long hard drive I’d say he’ll improve over two and a half miles plus when he gets the chance to go that far.
Fourth placed BLOOD COTIL (37) only just lost a lengthy duel for third with Ruacana. He’d won a Grade 2 on his previous start and is clearly useful. He’d have a shot in the Triumph in a normal year.

Our Conor

I just thought Our Conor was ridden very confidently and is impressively built, for a hurdler. I also thought he jumped very well for a 4-y-o. This race is notoriously difficult to pick the winner of, but this looks the best horse I have seen and he battled very well to the line in his previous race, so he’s no quitter.
February 12, 2013 at 00:11 #429330having reviewed his races I am now a lot more impressed with our connor
or maybe i’m just a mordin junkie.
tbh i’m a very lazy punter who tends to base his entire approach on visual form. I never study form and don’t do my own speed ratings. I should do because it’s just too unscientific otherwise.
anyway looking at that last run he certainly looks like the sort of horse that’s going to be extremely well suited by the ultra fast pace at cheltenham- strong travellers like that always are.
basically i’ve gone from writing him off to considering him the best bet of the whole meeting in a few hours!

He meant the representative at the weekend, not at the festival

Elgeansenor1,
Agree that this race still waiting on something bursting onto the scene. Still hoping it’ll be Lac Fontana in the Adonis after his promising run on Saturday. Fingers crossed!
If Chatterbox was mine, being undefeated and having beaten MTOY previously, i’d be demanding that he went to Cheltenham.
Geraghty sounds like he’s under estimated how good he isFebruary 19, 2013 at 20:51 #430067Hopefully the Adonis Hurdle on Saturday will see a performer capable of shaking up the Triumph market. Looks a decent field with the likes of Lac Fontana, Chris Pea Green & L’Unique declared (think Irish Saint will go for the Dovecote).

Geraghty sounds like he’s under estimated how good he isI haven’t backed it but I would agree about Chatterbox. Although I wouldn’t take the defeat of My Tent Or Yours at face value he is a potential threat whereas River Maigue has no realistic chance. It looks as if Henderson/Geraghty are just sucking up to the yard’s leading owner.

won’t be troubling the judge on today’s Donny showing.

Think they’ve been a bit guilty of this with their entries. Some srange entries ( and lack of ) all season.
I don’t understand Master Of The Hall for example. Given three tough assignments this year and yet something like the Haldon Gold Cup would be ideal.
February 24, 2013 at 10:23 #430406Well that looks like my AP on Lac Fontana is floating down the Suwannee
Can’t fathom this race at all as don’t think the favourites have the right profile to win, so maybe go for Kashmir Peak or just stick a pin in the paper and hope for the best
February 24, 2013 at 13:04 #430421without wishing to look too much like an aftertimer, I was surprised that lac fontana started favourite yesterday given that on racing post ratings she was some way behind one or two others.
the winner, forgotten voice you get the feeling is better on flatter tracks. but he has a serious burst of speed for a hurdler, so I wouldn’t write him out of cheltenham considerations completely. (apparently he may go for the county hurdle.)
someone mentioned on the betfair forum, that the horse beaten earlier, vasco du ronceray might be serious value in the triumph. geraghty was noticeably not as hard as him as ruby was on the winner, he looked to be riding for his life.
February 25, 2013 at 09:36 #430489Anything that finishes ahead of Our Conor will win The Triumph. If anything that is.
