“unless something’s won the big 4yo hurdle at Leopardstown by the length of the home straight.”

Grafton Street surely? Or the Stillorgan dual carriageway if the nag is particularly good.

Love it, GAG, I’m definitely nicking both of those and passing them off as my own.

The big price differential between normal antepost and NRNB suggests that all may not be well with Anzadam…but I’m a sucker for a big price so went with the former.
I wasn’t surprised that he wasn’t declared for the DRF as I expected one bullet to be kept for the Norman Colfer Winning Fair, and I’ve had a bit of luck in the Triumph backing Willie’s horses before they run at Fairyhouse having had a fortunate win with Burning Victory and a good ew with Zenta.

He’s not a novice, so no need to be held back for next year even though he’s owned by the Donnellys who own Sir Gino. I’m interested that he was bought after Sir Gino and Majborough were already on these shores..Willie’s French scouts must have been reasonably impressed with his last French run, especially considering he won thus ruling out a Supreme campaign next year (though County next year could be a backup plan I suppose if he isn’t sound or doesn’t shine this year).

He’s by Authorized out of an Astrabad mare, so should have no problem getting the Triumph hurdle trip on the new course, and I’m hoping that the Prix Alain du Breil that Gala Marceau won last year was on their minds as a reason to delay his appearance for the yard, rather than a setback. If he doesn’t appear in the entries for this coming weekend I’ve probably thrown my cash away.

    Anzadam 33-1 ew b365

I’ve backed Ethical Diamond. Big money purchase but was hugely disappointing on stable debut. However, I’ve re-watched his next run at the DRF twice and can’t help but think he would have gone very close if he’d been put in the race. They rode him cold to ensure he got home because of his poor first run. His finishing effort was eyecatching this time though under hands and heels after clouting the second last. I really like him at 20s.

Sir Gino drifts on the Exchanges but Salvator Mundi, the forgotten horse in the same ownership, is now third favourite and as short as 9/2 with some firms.

Is Mullins actually going to run this horse, when he has only had one run in France? Maybe he thinks it is his best chance.

Mullins wants to keep Salvador Mundi’s novice status for next season. So am assuming if he’s in its not to win.

I don’t think they’ll be crying into their cornflakes the next morning if he wins this Grade 1. It’s a shot to nothing.

Constitution Hill was never a big price for the Champion Hurdle. This is different, some people on at double figure prices what was looking like an odds on shot. Bookmakers have cut the opposition so much it’s as if Sir Gino is already out. Hope it’s just the rumour mill, but doesn’t look great.

Lot of eyes are going to be on Jeriko Du Reponet as a marker.

sky offering the money back as cash for a loser so I backed MIGHTY BANDIT at 22/1. One of those sold by the Caldwell’s for 420,000 and sent to ahem, Warren Greatrex.
Won first time up when beating Boodles winner Lark In The Mornin 9 lengths and then was well backed into 13/8 in a grade 2 but weakened tamely. Reports suggest nasal discharge etc, had his wind done since and now ready to roll again, although the vibes I got from the trainer weren’t exactly positive.

That’s the free bet, I have also put on KARGESE at 13/2 as that seems a little bit overpriced on what she did last time. Would be nice to see Danny ride a winner after all those victories at the DRF. Kenneth Alexander (owner) was 2nd in this last year (Gala Marceau) so the story shall be written that he goes one better.

So my thinking with this, with the ground being bottomless and it can produce future stayers anyway unless they are really classy horses like Lossiemouth and Vauban were, I don’t see that class angle today which is partly why Willie is mob handed, that and him still not knowing who his best are. Its a severe test in the stamina stakes being on the new course and very little jumping in the closing stages so its a long run in, I’m discounting any that started on the flat which leaves me with Majborough, Mighty Bandit, Salvator Mundi and Kargese. My take is that the way Willie talks about them, that Majborough is miles better than Kargese, just hasn’t shown it on track yet. He’s a big danger but with it being an open renewal I’m inclined to look further back in the market and I think they didn’t need to get Salvator Mundi here this year. Sure its a shot to nothing but the owners already had the hot favourite and they could have scratched Salvator Mundi and saved him for next years novice hurdles long before Nicky Henderson’s troubles started. I think he’s probably a very smart horse in his own right and potentially Willie’s best juvenile if he’s fit enough and mentally ready. On that note Gordon Elliott made no secret of how gutted he was to lose Mighty Bandit and he was their number one juvenile too, thought of much higher than Kala Conti (again vibes from what they say, jockey choosing him etc). They both come with risks but I think they’ve got very high ability ceilings where some of these for Willie probably aren’t good enough.

Makborough & salvator mundi, both wont be winning this, particularly the latter, who will be next seasons supreme horse IMO and theyll be looking to keep the novice status

Seems really simple to me this, kargese and storm heart will be 1&2, SH, should have won LTO, not sure what one will win, but thatt’l be the 1st & 2nd, wouldnt want to be laying either

    Nurburgring for me.

Salvator Mundi is the e.w play , if Sir Gino is a star he could be a nice play after just fin behind him in France however one of my main bets of the day is Storm Heart , they fin in a bunch last time but Townend keeps the faith and I’m sure what’s this owner back in the yard with more horses
