2 pts al ferof
2 pts last instalment
February 1, 2012 at 17:32 #389341No idea Zarks, I’ve been making the rules up as we go along really.
The only thing I will add is that the aim of the thread is to ‘beat’ Pricewise come Festival time. What is probable however, is that some of the selections already in the thread (myself included) have been ‘forced’. Personally I would have never backed anything in the World Hurdle ante post, but have done so for the purpose of the competition. Im sure that Segal wouldn’t have put up what he has through his own choice – he’s merely having to pull something out of the hat to sell papers on quiet Tuesday’s.
So in answer to your question? No idea. What does everyone else think? I guess you can probably leave it for a while. I think Tom is picking 8 selections in the run up to the Festival which takes him upto Tuesday 21st Feb. We can probably have that as the final deadline for all selections. You’ll have to have whatever price is on offer then though – I imagine the bookies will be trimming every race left, right and centre.
What do we all reckon? Shall we let posters have until then? Or should we carry on the week to week basis? Im easy, I’ll let majority rule.
February 1, 2012 at 18:10 #389347Zark, I’d be happy if anyone wanted to delay their selection, no problem here.
Blunkett, I’m the same as yourself, some of the selections are "forced" to say the least. The Arkle, Champion Chase, and Neptune Novices are not of that much interest to me, but I’ll stick my certainty up for them no probs. Although I included I’msisngingtheblues in a lucky 15 AP, I don’t think there’s too much chance of that coming in. It’s a bit of fun, and will make interesting reading in a few weeks……for some of us anyway.

I’m assuming we’ll be tallying our accumulated ‘funds’ as the festival goes along, just to see who wins out of TRF.
I’m incredibly competitive you know
February 6, 2012 at 03:16 #390037Well there’s absolutely nothing I like in the field. Nothing.
I’m going to go for Bob’s Worth because he was my instinct after the Feltham. Horses for courses.
2pts 5/1
February 6, 2012 at 10:32 #390042A hard race for novices and ruins many a good horse.
Nightmare of a race for me personally over the years, Nick Dundee tipping over at the 2nd last cost me four figure returns in AntePost Yankee. Also i still have nightmares about Jair Du Cochet not being put in the race earleir by Mr Ricou – ce la vie.
Anyway babbling a bit looking at the prices ill be a happy to get my horse turning up many of the ones forefront of the betting could line up elsewhere.
Tentative selection
Silviniaco Conti 1pt EW 12/1 Generally – thought is stayed on quite well in the Feltham and was only 2 lengths behind Grand Crus at the line – looks a bit if value if he goes for this one
February 6, 2012 at 11:02 #390044Well for me it’s a choice of Bobs Worth or Last Instalment, and i know the former likes the course so
Bobs Worth, 2 pts win, 5-1 in places.
February 6, 2012 at 13:06 #390053Having backed Last Instalment ew at much bigger prices, cannot have him now as my "pricewise" selection
First Lieutenant loves Cheltenham, will likely get faster ground so has to be the choice
2pt win First Lieutenant 14/1 Boyles (where has all the 16/1+ gone?? – Pricewise I guess….)
February 6, 2012 at 13:56 #390063All the prices have gone now, those lovely generous bookies are shortening everything they think might be the Pricewise horse.
It remains to be seen whether or not they will then ‘reset’ the odds tomorrow for the horses he doesn’t tip.
February 6, 2012 at 17:08 #390089FIRST LIEUTENAINT 12/1
Only SDC is the danger.
February 6, 2012 at 22:31 #390140Last Instalment 2pt win @ 8/1
I was at Leopardstown and Last Instalment looks much more a chasing type than FL. Awful pick by Tom.

Yeah it occasionally happens, I’ve also been looking out for it but it’s very rarely a move by all bookies.
They’ve also had it completely wrong the past 2 weeks, shortening up Cue Card and Mikael d’Haguenet/Our Father – looks like the RP is becoming more secretive with the Pricewise selection. I’d congratulate them but this should be the norm. I mean ffs, First Lieutenant was 14s or 16s this morning, now best priced 10s. Amazing.
February 7, 2012 at 06:44 #390160And they’re wrong again. Silviniaco Conti.
February 7, 2012 at 07:56 #390164Really? That’s funny.
February 7, 2012 at 10:06 #390167THe one horse I am concerned about is silviniaco, I thought he was going to aintree instead?
Hope he does because he will one of the aintree festival best bets.
February 7, 2012 at 13:26 #390185Tom went for 2:
Silviniaco Conti 1pt win 16-1 generally
First Lieutenant 1pt win 12-1 BetfredFebruary 7, 2012 at 13:57 #390192If Grand Crus takes the Gold Cup route Mr Nicholls will allow Silvinano Conti to take his place in the RSA If not he is off to Aintree
