Congratulations Nathan
and commiserations to Ian ..it was such a close contest.Nathan is such a likeable guy and for many years ran most of the competitions on here even taking on Bob’s 4PP which we did together for a while.
Nathan has come through some tough times but has been the greatest dad that his son Alex could ever wish for when he found himself a single parent after sadly losing his wife. The Nathan I know is full of mischief and fun and he always makes me laugh and yes Ian that Hitler sketch is a real hoot, we’ve had several versions over the years and they are all hilarious.😆🤣😂
An example of how thoughtful Nathan is was when he found out how much I loved the flashy chestnut Top Notch Tonto he sent me a picture of him cut into a puzzle and I still have that Nathan.

So happy that you have finally won this Nathan after coming in 2nd so many times. Brentford Hope is popping round tomorrow morning to present your trophy and he has promised to win at least one race in 2023 for you. Have your shovel and bucket ready and your roses will be the envy of your street in the summer
Well done
Jac xThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 1, 2023 at 00:59 #1629193Thank you gamble.
The Giant will bounce back, I had him nailed on for this.
I feel like Wimbledon 1988 FA Cup finalThank you, Jac
lovely words, much appreciated, very nearly had a tear in my eye and thank you for always being the other side of a PM or email when times have been tough over the years.
Alex has just walked in…

Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
January 1, 2023 at 01:10 #1629198Well done, Nathan. Though I think no runner-up has ever had 14 votes. Correct me, if I’m wrong.
January 1, 2023 at 01:33 #1629202I think there have been may double-digit seconds. Was not the 17th vote after 00.10 ?
January 1, 2023 at 02:57 #1629203THE CLASH OF THE TITANS
It was a well fought competition, but despite the year you’ve had Nathan,
you’re still 1st to the oche. Congratulations to you mate, I’m delighted
to see you pull it off, especially when without Ian, it would have been
little more than a walkover, despite so many people who add to this forum
and make it the racing Oasis of intelligent(ish) debate it is. It is both
overtimely and very well done Sir
Ian, I know you’d only look down on a conciliatory well run speech with
an arm round the shoulder, so here it is anyway if only to raise your
erudite hackles (yes I am pissed and it is 2.30am in Scotland on the 1st
so I make no apology) Strangely enough one of my bosses always said I
wrote my best reports when I was pissed (I refute that and take the 5th
in any case) .Seriously (oh you’ll hate this) you’ve been a delight to read whilst
telling most to feck off unless they had a relation well up the chain
in McVities. Personally I’m a Tunnocks man.Delighted to see that my good mate Sam get’s a deserved 3rd spot for
putting in a power of work this last year whilst viewing racing from
all sorts of different perspectives. His power of work in DLAP leaves
everyone in the shade. Great work Sam.Congratulations to the winners of the other catagories, they deserve
as much of a mention. Bachelors Hall’s Juvenille Hurdlers a worthy winner
in the Thread Of The Year, and I’m delighted to see that Tryptich’s Meydan
Thursdays held it’s head up, it’s much more than a horse thread now. Well
done Jac
but I’m starting to wane a little now (my old boss might well
say…pussy, but he always was a crude old B)Happy New Year to all, God knows we could do with a better one.
January 1, 2023 at 06:43 #1629209While everyone has had there eyes fixed firmly on the duel between Nathan and Ian may I ask one question ….. Who the **** voted for Gamble , surely a 999-1 punt in running where the horse is making for the hurdle course in a chase , after barely refusing to start , saddle hanging off and the jockeys dropped his whip ….after being told today is ” not ” the day ….. Someone put there hand up please
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 1, 2023 at 06:48 #1629210After his defeat does this make Chezza the ” Neil Kinnock ” of the forum ?

Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 1, 2023 at 07:29 #1629212Well done Nathan and commiserations Ian but there’s always next year.
Happy New Year to all.
January 1, 2023 at 10:21 #1629224“After his defeat does this make Chezza the ” Neil Kinnock ” of the forum ?”
That hurt!
But then the truth invariably does!
Good line and video, HDLG – I laughed at both.
“Well done Nathan and commiserations Ian but there’s always next year.”
Thanks, Homer, but tbh I don’t think I will be winning one of these anytime soon.
None of us posts here actively seeking to win an end-of-year award – we post to express ourselves and enjoy ourselves.
If I was actively trying to win, I’d post a lot less, and at times be a lot more diplomatic.
But that’s not me, it’s not what I’m all about.
There are plenty here (you and HDLG are two of them) who “get me,” find me amusing not irritating, and you’re all the reason I’m here at TRF – great banter, great laughs, great debates.
But there are possibly even more who just don’t like seeing my name plastered all over the forum, this bloke who seems to think he’s funny who has an opinion on everything.
They could, of course, post more themselves, to dilute my presence, and I’d welcome that – I come on here some afternoons and no one has posted in any folder for literally hours.
Nathan himself IMO perceptively observed that, once he and I drew a few votes clear, it quickly turned into a two-horse race and no one else got a look in.
If he’s right, and I suspect he is, there were voters who simply wanted any winner who wasn’t me.
I see no reason for that to change.
But it matters not, quite apart from it just being a bit of fun, I couldn’t have finished runner up to a more likeable bloke.
And he’s every inch a worthy winner.
Nathan is a prolific poster in his own right and as stated that TRF Hitler video had me howling with laughter.
Top man, Nathan – well deserved.

gamble, you are right
there is no way of stopping the poll from what I can see hence writing the winner on each thread on the deadlinePlease don’t vote
it won’t count
but you may still be charged for itGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
January 1, 2023 at 10:26 #1629227Our posts crossed over there Ian,
I’d prefer a blind poll, there must be a way its 2023
once poll ends, results get displayedGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
January 1, 2023 at 10:32 #1629230It would certainly prevent future “Stop….” voting, but I think the visible swings were good fun this year, the lead changed hands numerous times, and it would be sad to lose that theatrical drama just because I’m evidently somewhat “Marmite.”
Given I won’t be changing – I’ve already this New Year played Devil’s Advocate by passing on social media criticism elsewhere of the enormously popular and well-respected Lydia Hislop – it’s just the price I pay for enjoying being a wannabe “The Great Disrupter” here.
Anyway, “22” are Chezza’s form figures going into 2023 – any more of THAT and it will be time for: blinkers, hood, cheek pieces, the lot!

January 1, 2023 at 10:56 #1629237Felicitations Nathaniel, well-deserved
The gentlest of gentlemen and the chitter-chatter has been jolly good fun
January 1, 2023 at 10:59 #1629238Many congratulations Nathan, and also to Ian for his very strong showing.
The forum is very fortunate to have you both as contributors.
January 1, 2023 at 11:56 #1629246As far as voting goes, this result is deemed as a classic. It reminds me of the 2013 Sussex Stakes when Toronado came with a beautifully timed run to nail Dawn Approach at the post. Funny that the horse was ridden by a ‘Hughes’ too 😅
Well done Nathan
