Font size, style, layout…..all seem a massive improvement to me but I am used to the wider screen layout and can understand the points made.
Give it time and I think it will grow on all….
A change is as good as a rest
July 1, 2007 at 03:45 #105597Oooo very pretty – well done Cormack
Must have taken a lot of work, these websites are no easy thing to muck around with.
July 1, 2007 at 09:49 #105608It will be fine once we’ve got used to it but there’s a problem with quotes and some non-racing spam is getting through.
July 1, 2007 at 11:07 #105616Presumably the spam-threads will be removed eventually and some of the other teething problems will be resolved.
A radical change, but on the whole, a good one.
July 1, 2007 at 11:49 #105624On the whole I’m impressed. The old layout had it’s own unique character and it’s a shame to have been lost but an update was needed and well done and thanks to all for the hard work.
The spam obviously needs removing and in the case of Bosss reporting to the police!
Btw Corm, how did the 2% challenge get on yesterday
July 1, 2007 at 18:05 #105666just a thought, it appears the ‘notify me when a reply has been made to this thread’ option is defaulting to ‘ticked’
not sure what others feel and haven’t checked my inbox but if it’s like other forums that will generate a quadrillion emails
i’d rather check it myself if i wanted to . . .July 1, 2007 at 21:50 #105680Ok Cormack you’ll want constructive suggestions so there were just a couple of things I wanted to suggest.
[list:3mr8iycd]Spam seems to have invaded the racing forum! In raging war against the enemies of the state can you be more clinical in culling the villians or more sparing in the selection process? People with no interest in horse racing are signing up, perhaps the email you send could contain 3 horse racing questions to check they are actually interested in racing and not just joining to post spam?
Its probably only me who used the wide range of emoticons before but I find myself with a very restricted selection now. Can you get the old selection back?
Agree about the wine banner but it’s not the end of the world.
Can you clarify the situation regarding tips in the main section? If they are still out you wouldn’t guess looking at the main section.[/list:u:3mr8iycd]
Other than that no complaints at all
FSL
July 1, 2007 at 22:26 #105681Looks like were getting somewhere now, Spam threads all being pulled now and if its too easy too join you’ll be looking at another BF forum within 6 months.
July 1, 2007 at 22:30 #105683May I suggest all bona fide members cease to post anything at all until Cormack has got his spam filters sorted out and sundry nutcases evicted.
July 1, 2007 at 22:32 #105684Sorry – been away all day due to an illness in the family.
Removing spam threads and spammers as we speak. Also we will have a positive check on newcomers in place asap.
July 1, 2007 at 22:50 #105689Pompete – the 2% challenge seems a distant memory! I will get back to it though – with stakes upped
July 2, 2007 at 02:25 #105701Its probably only me who used the wide range of emoticons before but I find myself with a very restricted selection now. Can you get the old selection back?FSL
Oh me too! I love my smilies

I have found one of my favs
July 2, 2007 at 05:42 #105704Well I’m not keen on the wide screen and the spammers are a real annoyance, but overall, it’s just great to have it back, and I like the colour/font etc.
Good work Corm!
July 2, 2007 at 05:56 #105705I’m a great believer in, if its not broke why fix it, may get use to it
July 2, 2007 at 10:30 #105725Tres posh. Do I need to wear a tie?
What’s a "tie"?

It was at least a little bit broke though – the old forum was running on a very old version of some unsupported software; it had to be upgraded at some point and the longer it was the left, the harder it would have been.
At the very least, the old forum’s software must have been a real security risk – it would have been riddled with well known security flaws.
Well done Cormack!
July 2, 2007 at 17:12 #105774Correct Rich – the main reason for upgrading was to move to a more robust platform.
