September 10, 2010 at 16:10 #316936Three teams have failed to win crickets county championship, Somerset is one although next week could see that change.

Can you name 1 or both of the others yet to win it?

Side question for Nathan:
In 1994 Brian Lara broke a record that had stood for 99 years
What was that old record, who was the player and where did it occur?
September 12, 2010 at 10:29 #317157That’s a bit of a tricky one Drone considering Lara seemed to break a record every week. I would guess it is either Highest individual score in an innings which Lara made 501 not out v Durham at Chester la Street or most centuries in a county season with 13, 14 or 15? Jimmy Cook hit 11 in 1991 so if it was that record it would have to be more than 12. Other than looking it up I wouldn’t have a clue who he beat in those records.
Am I close?

Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
September 12, 2010 at 10:54 #317168The question was aimed specifically at you Nathan because the old record involved Somerset, specifically, was against Somerset.
You’re on the right lines with "highest individual score in an innings" to which should be added the filter "in the County Championship"
Does that help?

I think Denis Compton holds the record for seasonal first-class centuries with 18 in 1947
As for Robin Smith, I too would have to consult the yellow bible
