I nominate Bachelor Hall’s thread for top dog again this year. Ian Davies has already been nominated – I should have read Nathan’s rules. To make some sense of his later posting this carol was re-written in his honour but I didn’t want the Monday club to see it.
December 11, 2022 at 14:11 #1626567On a less irreverent note, and irrespective of whether you like marmite or not – and granted we’ve probably all enjoyed far too much of his talent, but there is no denying the fact that Davies (Davvid) has been the major force in this house and throughout the year for knowledge, versatility, and durability.
Thread of the year – Bachelor’s Hall once again
(Gingertipster had a great year last year despite his two votes and one being mine. Some just don’t appreciate his excellence)
***CAS thoroughly deserved winning last year and yes has excelled again and Davies does a very good summary of talents. Davies won this twice officially and once unofficially in 2005. He is through age more mature now, and has sharpened his talents – don’t forget his Dictator’s thread that was groundbreaking.
A small word for the small posters like you and me – we plug away adding our little bits here and there making few waves. We are the meek sheep that will inherit the greater kingdom and the greater prize 🏆
MERRY XMAS TO ALL…
The holly and the Ivy..
*** I will be removing both postings before midnight. Some sensitive souls may be offended and the bad mood Monday morning crowd may want blood. Also, the Jehova Witnesses know my address and will want one more lost 🐑 in their fold (click)
I HAVE KEPT THIS POST -THERE IS NOTHING TO OFFEND IN IT APART FROM THE FACT THAT I WROTE IT
December 11, 2022 at 16:42 #1626593I answered my door a couple of days ago and there were two men standing there. I assumed they were Jehovah’s Witnesses or Mormons and told them to “pass by on the other side”.
On further inspection it turned out they were electricians coming to fit new smoke alarms!
I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highwaysDecember 11, 2022 at 16:54 #1626596“CAS thoroughly deserved winning last year and yes has excelled again.”
Very kind of you Gamble, sir – but I cannot help recalling the wise words of the late Lord Weinstock when he opined “It is vulgar to win the Derby two years running.”
December 11, 2022 at 16:59 #1626599” Better to be vulgar than boring ”
December 11, 2022 at 17:49 #1626602You know that, ultimately, in the end, you’ve lived a worthwhile life when gamble (re)writes a christmas carol about you.
Chezza is unbelievably happy at this moment – Merry Christmas everyone!

Flat horse year – Kyprios
Jump horse of the year – HewickDecember 11, 2022 at 21:11 #1626631Jump jockey of the year –
Jockey Aidan Macdonald who returned to horse racing just 18 months after suffering a stroke at just 21-years-old.
December 11, 2022 at 21:11 #1626632Racecourse year -Aintree
December 12, 2022 at 05:07 #1626649Def feels like the year Skelton takes another step up , Hewick also had a great year to , will they try a graded race next ?
December 12, 2022 at 07:47 #1626653Poster – Triptych. The passion for the horses shines through in every post.
Flat Horse – The Platinum Queen. Syndicate ownership dream.
Flat Trainer – Owen Burrows. Remarkable strike rate, excellent placing, modest man.
Racecourse – Windsor. I’m biased by owning a winner there, but it really is much improved from the tip I remember in the 70’s. And they responded quickly to criticism of the pricing policy.
December 12, 2022 at 19:26 #1626698Wow thank you ap that is so kind.
I’m lucky enough to live within 50 miles of Newmarket and indulge that passion every flat season but what beautiful animals they are. Must be great to actually own a racehorse let alone have a winner.
I’m saving up and hope it might happen one day.

Poster of the year – .. Sporting Sam –
Some great insights into betting systems showing you can make them work for you. Sam is literally posting every 35 minutes on DLAP’s and has a number of systems on the go and a brilliant eye for spotting a horse that has run well in a race and has the potential to dot up next time out at a big price
Flat horse of the year – Blackbeard (you can’t help but love him)
Jumps horse of the year – Constitution Hill
Flat jockey of the year – William Buick
Jumps jockey of the year– Harry Cobden
Flat trainer of the year – Charlie Appleby
Jumps trainer of the year – Willie Mullins
Hero of the year -Aidan Macdonald (young stroke survivor)
Riding Performance of the year – James Doyle on Rebels Romance in the Breeders Cup Turf how he came from that position to win was breathtaking.
Broadcaster of the year – Lydia Hislop
One to watch 2023 – The Antarctic (brother of Baattash) With Blackbeard taking early retirement he looks to be a good prospect for 2023 for the Coolmore team.
Racecourse of the year – Newmarket ( where the world’s best 2yo”s take their first steps to becoming future champions)
Journalist of the year – Ruby Walsh
Villain of the year – Derby Fireworks
Owner of the year – Kirsten Rausing
Commentator of the year – Stewart Machin
Thread of the year – Blackbeard’s AnticsThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...December 14, 2022 at 00:44 #1626779Tippi it’s a great list
makes me feel even more
like a fraud.
Sam is a great selection
only problem is he’s up against the resurgent reinvented fourth coming of the Big Green Giant who does it in ten minutes and travels twice the distance. My second nomination is for
a poster named – WELL MIGHT I interrupt the listing to WISH YOU ALL A MERRY XMAS EDIT. The parade and line up is often more interesting than the race itself as the runners relax in the sun and show off their colours. It will be a very slowly run race this year despite cutting the corners.December 14, 2022 at 12:27 #1626816Poster of the year – To be honest, I hate this one because there are so many people
who deserve it in their own way. It’s like comparing Horlicks and Bovril. Anyway,
after serious consideration, I’ve got to agree with Trip, Sam throws his heart and
soul into it EVERY day. Looks at things from different angles, develops new systems,
and is a decent spud to boot. So, Sporting Sam is the man
Flat horse of the year – Kyprios (he’s the new Strad)
Jumps horse of the year – L’Homme Presse
Flat jockey of the year – Hollie Doyle
Jumps jockey of the year – Harry Cobden
Flat trainer of the year – Charlie Appleby
Jumps trainer of the year – Willie Mullins
Hero of the year – Bryony Frost
Riding Performance of the year – Hollie Doyle on Trueshan (Quipco Long Distance Cup 15/10/22)
Broadcaster of the year – Mathew Chapman (improved a lot )
One to watch 2023 – George Boughey
Racecourse of the year – Cheltenham
Journalist of the year – Alistair Down
Villain of the year – Willie Mullins (brilliant trainer, but you never know who goes where)
Owner of the year – Andrew Gemmell
Commentator of the year – Richard Hoiles
Thread of the year Meydan ThursdaysDecember 14, 2022 at 17:41 #1626839I’m glad others have named Blackbeard antics
I’d have hated to have nominated my own thread..
Poster of the year – Agree with all the shouts.
I’d like to nominate Gamble, always interesting posts even if I don’t understand most of them
Whilst I’m here a big shout out to those that run the competitions.
RedRum, Vtc, TKF, Raymo, BigG and Triptych, thank you guys for keeping them going
Charles Darwin to conquer the World
December 14, 2022 at 18:51 #1626846Thanks Nathan the competitions bring us all together and a vital part of the Forum and thank you for all your ongoing efforts too.

I can’t fathom Gamble’s posts either Nathan but I’d like to wish him and all of us on TRF a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and happy posting in 2023.
As BigG says there are so many brilliant posters on here it’s a nightmare to name just one but this year I had to choose Sam.

Your Blackbeard’s Antics was a great Thread Nathan..good luck with it and many thanks to BigG for nominating Meydan Thursdays which is close to my heart and it’s not just about Meydan it’s so much more than that.
