Restricting selections would be a good idea in principle but a bad idea on the conditions set above. Why be restricted to the same amount of selections for Saturday as Sunday? The former is normally better in
quality
and
quantity
then the latter, take this weekend for example, eight meetings on Saturday and four on Sunday. I’d be all for restricting selections to twelve over the course of the weekend but not to have six Saturday and six Sunday.

Very fair point about Pricewise Ginge I would be happy to go along with that.
Also we can still use allowance to select more than 1 horse (max 3) in one race.
The lay out of displaying our results will also help the scorers to get results up faster.

Also a very fair point about Sunday racing a 12 horse max per weekend gets my vote.
Dependending on how many on the Rota I’m happy to fit in and could commit to the first Saturday of every month and Cheltenham and Aintree for Ginger as I know Nathan runs a few compys around that time.

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 25, 2013 at 09:21 #456071Many thanks Gingertipster for all the work in running a very enjoyable competition.
Hope there is another one, as I’m looking to finish second from bottom next time

You make a good point about quality of Saturdays and Sundays JBale. But not do feel the number of selections should come down for the sake of scorers.
May be try a maximum of 10 per weekend, with Festival days limited to 10 per day (if ok with you Jac?)?
Will 10 selections be enough for a top class WEEKEND like Cheltenham’s Paddy Power meeting?
Value Is EverythingNovember 7, 2013 at 13:56 #457535That’s fine with me Ginge as long as everyone else OK. The help with scores will be much appreciated and also to put any non runners down too as they often get missed when checking results.
My Commmitment to the Rota could be as follows:-
Weekends:
7th December
4th January
1st February
1st March
*CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL (4 days 11-14th March)
also the weekend 15th/16th MarchIf we can all commit to 10 horses over a weekend and max 10 horses per day on Festival days I’m happy with that. Where a Festival Day is on a Saturday (10 horses) shall we say 5 horses allowed for Sundays..don’t want to get to bogged down with too many rules, as long as we all post clearly and submit results as in your example, not forgetting Non Runners, that would really help the scorers a lot.
If a Rota list could be available before the start of the compy it would be easier to follow, so anyone who could help please come forward early to help us all enjoy the competition.
Jac

If the number of horses allowed looks like it is going to cause a problem then maybe as long as everyone posts up their scores clearly, it could probably be left as before to avoid confusion on big race days.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...November 7, 2013 at 14:50 #457538I think we should have a maximum number of selections per weekend Jac. It won’t inhibit too many, just stop people (like you) going mad!
But true, we don’t want to restrict it too much. Saturdays are more popular than Sundays anyway. I think JBale’s suggestion might be the way to go. Maximum of 12 PER DAY at the Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals (in March and April respectively) and maximum of 12 PER WEEKEND all other weekends. I don’t expect many to use the full 12.I’ll put together a set of "Proposed Rules" and put it in to a thread for everyone to have their say. So we can (if needed) change rules before the competition starts.
Also with the proviso of more volunteers needed otherwise
NO competition!
