A closely run thing for second place and Top TRFer goes to Andrew_03 +35.89, just pipping Hot Fuss with +35.70at the post. Just 0.19 in it! Congratulations to Tom, Andrew and Hot Fuss. Well done to Red Rum and Goldie who also put together fine totals.
Commiserations to Bob Rolfe who takes away the hard fought battle for the Wooden Spoon.Value Is EverythingOctober 19, 2013 at 20:33 #455527Many thanks to those who helped me in scoring the competition. Triptych, Wyldesyde, Red Rum, Nathan Hughes, and anyone else who’s helped in any way.
Value Is EverythingOctober 19, 2013 at 22:40 #455542I’m just amazed at finishing in profit, Thanks Ginger for organizing this competition, still doing well in the Ante Post one.
October 19, 2013 at 23:21 #455552Many many thanks Ginger for putting this altogether it’s been great fun and well done to Andrew and Hot Fuss for getting so close to Pricewise who had the added advantage of enhanced prices, well done boys
.Bob..I’m relieved to hand over the Wooden Spoon this time. This Competition has shown how difficult it is to make a true profit even when between us we have chosen some pretty useful horses at decent prices. However, for me, it’s the taking part that counts and this competition has been totally addictive and looking forward to the next one.

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 20, 2013 at 10:37 #455579Well done Andrew and thanks to everyone involved with the competition. I’m going for a lie down.
October 20, 2013 at 19:47 #455636A big thank you to gingertipster for his effort in keeping the competition in fine order. Not a easier task I can tell you. Ginger you will have to email Tom, congratulating him and showing him the final table, he’ll probably put it in his column box.

October 20, 2013 at 21:11 #455649Pricewise true score may be different, because he’s tips on Fridays and overseas quite frequently. Plus the odd Ante Post which he has one now in the Melbourne Cup

1pt at 20-1 with Boylesports (16-1 generally)October 21, 2013 at 11:05 #455697Well done to those who made a profit, particularly Andrew and Hot Fuss who were very closely matched.
Thanks to Gingertipster and others who kept the scores updated.
My desperate flailing attempts to get a big winner to finish with ended in Silverheels beaten about a furlong in the last at Ascot. Pretty well summed my overall efforts really!

The problem we have is that when Tom tips one the price immediately shortens, so he’s often able to "take" a much bigger price on those horses than the rest of us. We could say everyone who tips the same as Tom gets Tom’s price (before 9:00 am) but will that mean TRFers tipping Tom’s selection for the sake of it? Not sure.
Suspect Cormack will be informing Tom, if anyone dares.
Will you be doing the Jumps competition this season like you did last Nathan? Paddy Power Gold Cup to Grand National?

Thanks for everyone’s thanks, but it got a bit on top of me, apologies
. It wasn’t in "fine order" at times and don’t think I’ll be able to be "main scorer" again. Very grateful for the help I recieved.Don’t mind helping out by doing a few weeks (or more) here and there if you Nathan – or anyone else – starts one and wants a hand.
Value Is EverythingOctober 24, 2013 at 09:35 #455988I wont have the time to commit to doing the scoring every week but will be happy to chip in with the scoring and table updates at certain times. We need volunteers and a rota system really.

Nathan I’m happy to go on the rota to help out with scores.
If we all commit to post up our results by Sunday Night it will be much easier.Just a thought but if we all had to tip 6 horses max on a Saturday and 6 max on Sunday, wouldn’t that make it more competitive and more in line with Pricewise and the way he tips. We would all be more on a level playing field then as some of us, myself included here
, like to tip up sometimes 15-20 horses over the weekend, often resulting in any good price winner being completely wasted and an early trip into the Red Sector.
Why not penalise Pricewise by just giving him SP returns on all his bets..is that too harsh
worth a try though.

Great idea, would make it easier to score, get results up early.
I vote yes.

October 24, 2013 at 17:01 #456023If one was run for the winter, then the bookies Stan James should be included as many put prices being quoted by them, but not any betting exchanges.

JacI am happy with "6 max" horses Jac/Nathan, as long as can have more than 1 in a race.
Be happy to put my name down for the "rota", as long as I don’t have to do any weekends when there’s racing at Newbury or Wincanton, or the Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals. May be if we all say how many weeks we are willing to commit to and divide things up after that…
I’d be willing to do 6 weeks if none of the above and not in one go.
Don’t think it is fair to penalise Tom Segal with "SP returns". Pricewise tips are shortened purely because of weight of money and just being Tom’s tips. If he tipped one @ 20/1 and it returned 10/1 – he would not have tipped it had it been originally 10/1, so is unfair giving him the shorter price. It’s in effect – penalising Tom for being successful…
I’d suggest keeping it as it is for Tom, this is after all a competition where we are trying to beat Pricewise… But any TRFer who tips a Pricewise selection BEFORE 9:00 am has Pricewise odds. ie Even if a TRFer tips the Pricewise horse up the night before @ say 12/1… he/she is still given the same 16/1 odds as in Tom’s column… That way it
stops
Tom from taking a price that is (in effect)
not
available to the rest of us?
Instead of TRFers just claiming how much they’re up/down over the weekend in question… If everyone was encouraged to actually quote their bets/tips and say which ones won (and non-runners – then it would make it easier for the scorer to check.
eg Instead of saying just "+0.5 for me this week", where the scorer still has to look back and go through the whole lot of tips to make sure the amount is right…
