Willie Mullins has been in phenomenal form in 2015 but even though he has had 10 winners in the past fortnight there have been some poor efforts from his runners in the past few of days.
Clonmel 19/02 – Killer Crow – 7/2
37L last of eight. Fell out of contention very quickly.
Clonmel 19/02 – Aklan – 11/10f
24L sixth of eight. Found very little.
Clonmel 19/02 – Nickname Exit – 4/6f
11.5L third of eight. Not as good as his reputation but a lesser effort than last time when he was also third.
Fairyhouse 21/02 – Dogora – 4/9f
0.5L second of six. Traveled lie the winner but got ran out of it in the shadow of the post.
Fairyhouse 21/02 – An Dearg Mor – 6/4f
0.5L second of 15. Again, traveled like the winner but didn’t pick up as looked likely.
Naas 22/02 – Aminabad – 7/1
14.5L last of five. probably as good as he is.
Naas 22/02 – Max Dynamite – 11/10f
14.5L fourth of five. Looked to be cantering three out but found absolutely nothing off the bridle.
Naas 22/02 – Twinlight – 9/4
20L third of five. Twinlight regularly throws in shockers so is unreliable as a form guide.
Naas 22/02 – Up For Review – 4/9f
3L second of two. Was heavily punted but had no answers to the easy winner Tycoon Prince.
These are far from the Mullins ‘big guns’ but there was a number who found little off the bridle and/or looked very one paced. Killer Crow, Aklan and Max Dynamite were by far the worst offenders and the rest were possibly just not good enough. Probably nothing too serious but I thought it worth keeping an eye on all the same.
