What do we fancy ladies and gentlemen?
Charlie Cool – I thought this had a squeek in truth but is probably not a 40-1 shot. He’s been consistant all season putting up some good times and his run at Sandown was interesting because he was given the hold up of all hold up rides literally out of the shot for the hole straight yet made up superb ground out wide to finish a remarkable 9th. then travelled up well at York just running out to a progressive horse giving away large weights to the winner and runner up in yet another good time.
Wouldn’t rule him out tbh
Royal Destination – He’s been travelling better in his races but just hasn’t been able to find anything which I’m putting down to a lack of fitness and he was held up in his last race probably to try and get a few lbs taken off which I am surprised the handicaper has still left him on 96, they’re savvy – I do believe that he ran a fine race at Goodwood last year and this could of been a little target for the owners but he’s the sort of horse who can win when they count.
22-1 bit big imo.

1 Drumfire (IRE) 8/1 5 9-10 M Johnston 107
Held up in about 10th, taken to outer and progress over 2f out, hard ridden to lead narrowly 1f out, asserted last 75yds (op 10-1)2 ½ Sweet Lightning 11/2F 4 8-3over weight1 W R Muir 86
Held up in last pair, looking for room from 3f out, still last entering final 2f, good progress just over 1f out, ran on to snatch 2nd last stride (op 6-1 tchd 5-1 and 13-2 in places)3 nse Royal Destination (IRE) 8/1 4 8-7 J Noseda 90 Dale Gibson
>>>> tracked them in 5th, powered through travelin well to take it up over 2f out, joined in front 1f out, lost second last stridesDrumfire’s a borderline G3 horse, and SL as we knew was well-handicapped. If anything he was in front way too soon here, although probably wasn’t the plan for Frankie to find as much trouble as he did for his win at York, where he had the race won 2f out if getting a run. Suggests 5lbs well-in (eg) off a winning mark of 92, runs off 95 here, so for me easily capable if good enough.
Comeback run was pleasing enough, then things didn’t go right in the John Smith’s where he was in rear early but did well to only be beaten around 7L.
This ain’t a good race imo, with Acrostic as toppers and he’s admirable but not a group horse dropping down or anything. Hard to enthuse about much else so:
Royal Destination e/w @ 25/1
rates a chance if things drop right! gl
July 30, 2010 at 10:38 #309900Oasis Dancer for me in this race
July 30, 2010 at 10:43 #309902Thought it looked a poor race with few horses at the top of their game will stick to Ransom Note backed it at ascot so will stick with it.
July 30, 2010 at 12:02 #309931Ransome Note seconded (75:25) at 12-1 with Paddypower last night. Looks like he’s having a go at this bigger pot – we shall see.
July 30, 2010 at 12:34 #309943added Tartan Gunna 20s to Royal D
