Chabal did it nicely at Sandown without being overly impressive. Coordinated Cut battled back really well at Newmarket and isn’t without a chance. Aidan O’Brien’s horses simply aren’t firing so Cape Blanco has to be a negative for me on that reason alone; which leaves Workforce, whose slightly high knee action may be cause for concern on firm ground, yet nevertheless looked a colt with great potential at Goodwood. He’s my idea of the winner.

My idea of value is EW CIRCUMVENT who seems to be ignored by all, his French form is up with the best of these

How anyone can back anyone other than CHABAL is beyond me. Think Cape Blanco could run a big race, but Chabal’s form is rock solid. Especially with Godolphin reporting him to be in peak condition.

Already got money on for the Derby at 16s and 20s, and if (and when) wins today, he’ll be cut to 6s or 7s.

He didn’t look like the other o’brien horses of late. Comfortable win!

More importantly from what i’ve just heard Murtagh say, he prefers CB to SNA.

Completely different Class to the rest and won at ease.

Should be Favorite. Murtagh basically telling us in the interview he will have a big decision to make.

Cape Blanco looks much better on good ground, it looks the best of O’Brien’s derby horses.

    I picked that up too.

Lets face it. He’s only gone off at those odds because of the yards strange form. I think workforce would’ve got closer if he had a run in him. That said it was done comfortably.

Mr Zarkava going to eat some humble pie? I said back the 2 and they would be slashed for the Derby!

Mr Bolger was very shrewd in Selling Chabal i thought last season and you can see why himself and Lady O Reilly cashed in.

Does anyone know what happened to Delegator and Evasive actually?

Delegator’s going for the Golden Jubilee at Royal Ascot isn’t he?

    A lovely performance.

It will be an interesting few weeks ahead at Ballydoyle and Johnny Murtagh certainly has a big decision to make.

St Nicholas Abbey and Cape Blanco are two fairly different horses and will arrive at Epsom in very different form.

One would expect that Aiden O’Brien, although more than happy with the winner, will primarily see this as a huge compliment to the favourite and the vibes emanating from Ballydoyle have always favoured St Nick.

The punters will no doubt have a much divided opinion on this, with Cape Blanco coming into the race unbeaten with a Derby trial under his belt. St Nicholas Abbey will improve for his Guineas effort and the trip at Epsom, but any support for the colt will surely be based on faith, rather than confidence.

I like Cape Blanco. He travelled well over this trip and the further they went, the better he looked. He appears to be a laid back individual and you wouldn’t think the big occasion will faze him in the slightest.

Workforce ran a cracking race, given his obvious inexperience. His performance will raise questions about, not only his participation at Epsom, but also that of Bullet Train.

I think the race could come a shade too soon for the Michael Stoute-trained horse, whereas Bullet Train won the Lingfield Derby Trial in authoritative fashion.

Henry Cecil didn’t seem too keen about Epsom on Saturday, but after collecting a Group Three and more improvement expected, he looks to have a more obvious chance than Workforce, who will be seriously tested by the course. Conversely, Bullet Train handled Lingfield very well and should not be inconvenienced by Epsom.

Michael Stoute is renowned for giving his colts time to mature and he may wait for either the Curragh or the King Edward, which would seem to be a more logical, progressive step.

Aiden O’Brien has a strong hand to play with at Epsom and you wouldn’t rule out a clean sweep for Ballydoyle, with Bullet Train looking the strongest home representative.

Cape Blanco looked very lame to me at the end of the race, representatives played it down at the time saying he was a bit sore, but he did look quite lame in his front legs.

    Mmmm!
Thought I’d heard after the race that they believe today’s winner about the equal of Midas Touch, and gave the impression they’re both inferior to SNA?
Not sure how good the form is just yet, but Workforce ran a decent race considering his jockey had no steering from some way out, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see the result reversed sometime during the season. Can’t see him running in the Derby though.

On the face of it Workforce run was pretty good.

But then again he was beaten along way out and his class got him by Co-ordinated Cut in the end to finish 2nd like Midday earlier in the race.

Screams Zacinto all over again from last year.

Of course. If I’m wrong I’ll always hold my hands up. I was wrong. You were right. Well done.

Aidan O’Brien was referred to the British Horseracing Authority after reportedly refusing to allow raceday officials to examine Cape Blanco following his win in the totesport Dante Stakes at York.

The Ballydoyle trainer watched from County Tipperary as Cape Blanco galloped to second-favouritism for the Investec Derby, after which rumours circulated about his well-being.

Television pictures appeared to show the colt being lame and stiff, but representatives from Ballydoyle and Coolmore insisted the horse was fine.

In an attempt to settle the matter, stipendiary steward, Robert Earnshaw, and BHA vet, Lynn Hillyer, both spoke to O’Brien by phone but he was said to have refused for the winner to be examined and declined an invitation for his travelling head lad, Pat Keating, to meet with the stewards.

Earnshaw said: "Our vet is down at the stables but Mr O’Brien has refused to have the horses trotted up in front of the vet.

"The lad has loaded the horse up and is heading for the airport.

"Mr O’Brien also refused a request for the stable lad to be interviewed by the stewards so the matter has been referred to the British Horseracing Authority under Rule B 83, which states that persons must comply with any instruction given by stewards at a race meeting."

Cape Blanco aggrivated his heel injury in the race but was fine after going back to the stable although AOB refused to let the York vet see him.
