I can think of at least 2 occasions where Murtagh got it wrong last year – Beethoven in Dewhurst (Chose Steinbeck) & Jan Vermeer (Choose Midas Touch) in that Frech G1
May 14, 2010 at 09:34 #295645Come off it Fist, an unbeaten Dante winner 33/1 for the Derby?? Would be strongly fancied for the Derby regardless of trainer. This isn’t the Coolmore hype machine, the horse has the form is the book.
May 14, 2010 at 10:29 #295652Hi antipost king, I looked again and again in your postof 4/22/10 for the winner of the dante but failed to find it.
Hi Andy and its spelt "The Ante-Post King" Legendary ruler of the Ante-Post Kingdom who will continue to reign until someone else shows they are worthy of my crown! Your spelling makes me sound like some pasta dish served in the Italian quarter of Sacremento!
I certainly wouldn"t writeWorkforce
off just yet,he defineately wont run on fast ground again as you can see from his action,he hit the ground hard yesterday and by all accounts there were genuine excuses to be made. I for one would bet him to beat Cape Blanco over further anyday,so long as the ground is better! For all my big price winners,i am just as capable of making a Reet Ar*e of myself too you know! Its the way i tell em!!
May 14, 2010 at 10:33 #295653SMS being SMS you can expect massive improvement and you can bet your life come Derby Day this horse will be the one St Nicholas Abbey has to fear most aand not Cape Blanco.
There are times when you are the Man!
May 14, 2010 at 12:47 #295675Stoute won the Dante with Tartan Bearer who like Workforce was very inexperienced, Tartan Bearer actually faced nothing before the Dante lost to Foolin Myself and laboured to beat Warringah, Workforce did well but even for a Stoute horse he should be winning that (especially against a very ordinary horse
) but Cape Blanco was too good for him even a performace equalling Sariska people dont seem to be impressed or don’t get it, and if he wasnt with O’Brien he’d be 33/1 is the biggest load of rubbish I have ever heard if SNA wasn’t in betting he’d be favourite who ever trained him.Workforce imo will be best at 1m2f but fair enough Cape Blanco probably is best at 1m2f where with St Nicholas Abbey he’d be more comfortable than both at the extra 2 furlongs.
The Dante though was easily the best trial.

He also picked that hound Allesandro Volta over Frozen Fire in the Irish Derby two years ago.
May 14, 2010 at 14:36 #295691Hi Ante- Post King. It is spelt Sacramento not Sacremento. But out of respect for you august position i will not correct you. The reference is for future use only.I liked the way you started with the waffle, distracts from the facts which belie your claims.
May 14, 2010 at 15:27 #295702Workforce looks a very exciting prospect for the future, particularly next year, but I wouldn’t be rushing to back an inexperienced colt who apparantly ‘needs a bit of juice in the ground’ around the undulations of Epsom.
The only chance he has of reversing Dante form with Cape Blanco is if the latter fails to see out the final furlong.
Aiden O’Brien said that Cape Blanco would also improve for the run at the start of the week and his performance was even more impressive considering he injured himself during the contest.
If Teddy Grimthorpe has any sense he will be advising Khalid Abdullah to give Henry Cecil the thumbs-up to prepare Bullet Train for the first Saturday in June.
It doesn’t look a great Derby and Bullet Train is sure to stay and handle Epsom. He will come into the race as an improving colt in good form and I believe that he will be even better sitting behind a fast pace.
May 14, 2010 at 17:17 #295715Did anyone read about how ‘Chabal’ was said to be more fussy with his food than a super model?!

Whilst he was with Bolger that was one of their probs with him…

Really is embarrassing that neither of you can count. Or read.
When he’s had the choice between
2
horses. Not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7, not 20, not 100, not 1000000. Ffs, it’s not difficult to count. Using your fingers helps – also an abacus.
p.s. I am aware that he had the choice of 2 in the Criterium
May 14, 2010 at 23:17 #295755I’ve just read Cape Blanco Dazzling performance.
By hell some people are easily dazzled and if Murtagh chooses this fellow he won’t be winning any Derby.
Coordinated Cut flattered to decieve again, Chabal is grossly overrated and all Cape Blanco has done is put up a workmanlike performance. No where near justifying his current Derby odds…..clumsy, no toe and travels like a very odrinary horse about sums him up.
If he wasn’t trained by AOB he’d be 25/1-33/1
Not sure what race you were watching, he travelled beautifully and quickened when asked, it was a trial, I hope he makes it safe and sound to the derby.
