Can anyone tell me please? If, when he was unseated, James Davies had managed to hold onto the reins of Topless and been dragged the few yards to pass the post in first place, would he have been disqualified?

and the seventy thousand scourges at 1.10
would have carried a thick hangman’s noose
to any judge’s neck
who would have tried to shout nei ghhh

If his feet were touching the ground, yes.
January 16, 2009 at 07:32 #204249I was hoping for Jessica Alba……..How disappointing

January 16, 2009 at 12:38 #204256Is it really true that an individual had £111 @ 999 on the winner?
January 16, 2009 at 14:01 #204264And that it also cost two syndicates a share of the super seven pool of £197,000 each.
January 16, 2009 at 14:03 #204265Onthesteal: Sorry if I’m thick, but what does FFS mean, please?
January 16, 2009 at 14:14 #204270Yes apparently somebody did match a bit at 999-1 and it made me wonder do the 1000 layers watch the races? Wouldn’t want to be standing next to that layer.
As for the syndicates I can’t feel sorry for them as I’d imagine they would’ve been trying to buy the pot with massed multiple selections and to pick a 9/2 horse that got beat by a 9/2 horse and not have them both seems a bit sloppy to me.

Swear words Ken FFS

You must make a lot of money punting Simon?
On second thoughts maybe not as all your expert analysis appears to take place after the event

In this instance he would have to be a clairvoyant to produce a pre-event analysis!

Yes rob, but at least he would have backed a 1000 winner and scooped the super seven pool by including both 9/2 shots to boot.
Funnily enough I’ve a good record of picking winners after the race
January 16, 2009 at 15:44 #204307If I had a pound for everytime I’ve said to myself, … " God, I was going to pick that one, what made me change my mind at the last minute?…."
January 16, 2009 at 15:59 #204312I think yeats misunderstood my post – I wondered if people who lay horses at huge prices watch races and I wondered why people who do multiple line syndicate entries don’t cover all the short ones – isn’t that the point of syndicating an entry?
I think yeats thought I was predicting something or saying I would have done something different before the event, though I’m not sure how he deduced that?
I know people on here do syndicates for pools but I prefer to see Mrs Haddocks win the big pots as it gives me some hope.
I know how tense I’ve got when I’ve had more on a bet than my ‘calmness’ levels can deal with so for someone to be watching that race but suddenly see 100k disappear with a jockey rolling off the horse at the line must do their heart/head in.
January 16, 2009 at 16:07 #204316Yes SBerry, you obviously have empathy with those of us who’ve suddenly experienced that empty pit in the stomach. Never having used Betfair, I can’t get my head round how people are able to change the odds during the race and yet leave time for people to back at those odds. Do they have very nimble fingers as opposed to my one finger typing?
January 16, 2009 at 16:19 #204322I was on both that and the King horse so actually ended up slightly better off as i had Topless at 7/2 and Pangbourne at 6/1 same stakes. But after it cleared the last I started looking at the next next dog card and couldn’t believe it.
Once happened to me when Barry Geraghty came off a favourite at Fairyhouse a few years ago when well clear so I feel for anybody who lost out. - AuthorPosts
