Given 6 month ban suspended for 2 years after one of his horses tested positive for lidocaine

Imagine my shock when reading this about a notorious scammer

My question would be why only 6 months?
Why is it suspended for 2 years?

He belongs to the right Lodge?

Trainers whose horses habitually fail drugs tests (this was Martin’s third winner in four years to test positive for a banned substance) should not have a place in the sport.

The last paragraph of the Racing Post article (below) reporting the case presents an image of a yard which does not have the necessary controls in place to effectively manage their duties regarding medicines. If the trainer can’t even meet that basic requirement of his profession he should not be allowed to present horses to race under rules.

Irish racing appears far too tolerant of this type of character and practise.

“However, during the yard inspection it was discovered that Martin’s medicines register had not been updated since August 2022 and that “a large number of veterinary medicinal products, including supplements, equine influenza vaccines, needles, syringes and vacutainers for taking blood samples were identified, many of which did not have an accompanying prescription or label”.

3rd strike and your gone should be the rules as far as I’m concerned

    Once could be a mistake
    Twice unlucky
    Three times is a pattern

    What a surprise… Not.

“Irish racing appears far too tolerant of this type of character and practise”.

Yep, I’ve said it before and no doubt I’ll say it again… The Irish Authorities punishments for this type of thing are far from being a deterrent. Punishments are so lenient they can only serve to encourage other trainers to use performance enhancing drugs on their horses…

It’s almost as if the Irish authorities want Irish horses to have an advantage.

Purwell, you have almost certainly hit the nail on the head although scarcely anyone will notice or care.
On an overwhelming scale, freemasons are lackeys for those that there are laws to protect from criticism (it’s strange that there are no similar laws to protect the British in their own country.) Both need to be exposed while there is still a chance however the moronic masses have never been remotely interested and will ‘oh so cleverly’ and unwittingly pontificate by regurgitating the propaganda they have been fed by the ‘news programmes’ that they lap up before their panem et circenses.
Back to horse racing; my view, much as I like Ireland, is that Irish racing is more corrupt than British racing; if there has ever been a study into the average price of winners in Ireland compared with the average price of winners in Britain, I suspect the former is significantly higher than the latter; ironically this plays into backers’ hands once they have recognised it.

If you were on the ball (especially in the current climate) it really shouldn’t be happening once let alone three times in a relatively short period of time….to me that isn’t an oversight/mistake that is plain negligence and a dereliction of care/duty to your horses.

If there is one particular area that you should have an over abundance of precautions/safety measures/redundancies built in, it is on the medication/treatment side of the business….no excuses for the lack thereof.

Hopefully, his owners will take an extremely dim view of yet another infringement and move their charges elsewhere to a stable that takes this kind of thing professionally.
