Disappointed that Remastered doesn’t go to Ascot, but this looks equally winnable for him. Too short for me Antepost at 7-2, but if he remained that on the day, then I’d probably back him. Huge fan of the horse, and I’m sure his next run in a handicap will be his last for a while.

Strong entry at this stage, and also interesting are…

    Empire Steel
    Mulcahys Hill
    Sam’s Adventure
    Vintage Clouds

but the one who really grabs me right now is Crixus’s Escape. Thought he ran well for a long way last time, and should he better for that, while he’s 5lb’s below last winning mark, and Brian Hughes already booked. Think he’s way overpriced at 33’s, but given how much I rate Remastered, also went the 25’s EW to four places.

Empire Steel just has to go close here, so I’ve taken the 8-1 early

Agree , Empire steel destroyed protektorat at Kelso last year , 8s is a cracking e.w price

The one that immediately catches my eye is Rath An Luir.

He managed to beat a very very promising horse of WPM Passageway in a PTP. Passageway went onto beat City Island and Minella Indo in a Punchestown bumper.

Even the 3rd in the point, Derby showed promise before going wrong. He beat Rathill in a ptp and Presented Well/Assemble in a bumper.

That’s serious point form, and clearly it’s ages ago, and there’s been a lot of water under the bridge since. His Novice hurdle he beat Orrisdale 5l who is now not a bad 129 chaser before not showing quite as much in a few handicap hurdles.

When turning to chasing in 2020 he had Alnadam and Minella Triump behind him, now both 140+ chasers. That was probably over a trip too short too. He then hammered currently 128 rated Tanarpino by 10l.

He’s been off since but it;s worth noting how good form the Dobbin stable are in. 30 chasers run, 9 winners and 5 placed. The jockey is 2-5 when riding for Dobbin.

He’s very interesting at around 12/1 in my book. I’ll even add that her husband Dobbs said he’s as impressive a chase debutant as he’s seen- he’s ridden some decent horses in his time….

Remastered 11-4 for me, though at around 18-1, I’ll have a smaller ew bet on Potters Legend.

    156 Remastered
    152 Shanty Alley
    152 Fuji Flight
    149 Just Your Type

Remastered would have gone close at Newbury and seems to have a golden chance of making up for coming to grief there.
Fuji Flight‘s recent seasonal debut showed promise and French form suggests he should relish a ploughing match at Chez Tellwrong.

I do like the favourite but hes got top weight to haul in very testing ground and we don’t know how the fall at Newbury will have affected him physically or mentally.

I made Callipso Collognes clear 2nd favourite so I’m surprised to see him available at double figures and he makes plenty of appeal ew with as many places as you can get.

Remastered is savagely short , he may have been unlucky last time but all his wins have been in small fields , I’m still not convinced he,ll stay either , heavy at haydock will be nearer 3.5 , I’m going to play both ends of the hcap , crixus escape comes in off a low weight with Hughes on board , fell in this last year but it looks like it’s been the plan to come back , there’d also been a lot of talk reg Irish hcpers coming over and filling there boots , Mr Hendricks is now with Christian Williams and has to shoulder top weight , he looked a decent prospect until his last two runs with Harrington , only 7 if the change of scenery has the positive effect he could still be reasonably handicapped , e,s def to big a price

Fuji Flight for an in form yard at 10-1 looked a good bet to me.

I’ve also gone for Fuji Flight here. In form yard, I suppose the conditions will be fine for a former French runner and he could have something in hand.

Id have remastered running to about 155-158 if he stood up lto, off 146 today, still has potential to improve on that again, running against garbage here, hard to beat 5/2 is more than fair

Agree Ham, he’d have won that in some style. 158 at the very least. I’d be amazed if he’s running in handicaps for much longer. Different race today though, and I only had a token bet at the opening 100-30. I’ve decided to cash that out though, and just bet him for Gold Cup at 100’s.

Still happy with Crixus’s Escape, and had more on him with the six places.

The one I can’t let go is Vintage Clouds. Run under his belt, back near last winning mark, and has course form.

    Crixus’s Escape 25’s EW 6pls/33’s
    Vintage Clouds 20’s

Bit hard to say garbage Ham , he may well be behind his true mark but as Bobby said he,s in a a different race today , haydock in heavy ground , stiff fences , I’ve a feeling it’ll be grim watching and it may well be an out and out stayer who wins , I’m not convinced he,s that , it’s the type of day just so would love lol

I’m with HDLG on Mr Hendricks-had been targeted at the Midlands National with Jessie so they obviously thought a trip on soft ground would be his bag. Difficult to keep right it seems but hopefully the sea water has done its job and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’d had a wind op too.

My other ew is Fado des Brosses who I liked the look of last year. Bu the same sire as Balko des Flos and shares a damsire with Ramses de Teille.

Got my 10p rev f/c on them as well ;-)
