    Newton Abbot 4-30

I’m not familiar with the in’s and out’s of the whip rules, but to my eyes the jockey has given Captain Becket (a lightly raced 5yo) a real seeing to there. 14 hard cracks between the last flight and the post.

*Just heard the jockey got 5 days. Deservedly so imo.

Very much so, Cavelino, and fair play to Matt Chapman (the only time I’ll ever say that) for highlighting the incident immediately after the race.

Unusual for Matt, he is normally full of praise for jockeys "who throw the kitchen sink at a horse".

He was well over the top with his use of the whip, maybe it’s a good thing that he dropped it in the 2.30 on Chunky lad, or maybe the frustration of doing so made him behave the way he did in the 4.30.
