Will be an interesting one to watch with Luccia entered. Authorised Speed for the Moore’s and Tahmuras for Paul Nichols certainly look no pushovers, not sure if Arctic Bresil will run for Henry De Bromhead but either way it’s a race that could have a big impact on the Mares Novice Hurdle and Supreme ante-post markets.
January 3, 2023 at 15:05 #1629501You’d imagine if Luccia wins and wins pretty well she’ll be heavily considered for the Supreme after Jet Powered?
Would be in receipt of the mares allowances, while getting a g1 penalty in the mares novice.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 3, 2023 at 15:12 #1629503Bloody well hope not Jack! It’s a very fair point to make though. Hopefully Nicky will have the idea in his head that it was the ground that scuppered Jet Powered’s race the other day.
January 3, 2023 at 15:26 #1629504Even if it did, i can’t imagine too many Supreme contenders come from a 29L loss in an introductory hurdle…especially from seven barrows ( i stand to be corrected lol)
I think the likely penalties would be it hard for them to resist a Supreme if winning well enough here? Also, Mares Novice is a g2? Would seem pointless, but maybe facing FV would put them off.
I’d love the Irish horse to run, but i suspect he’ll stay at home for the Moscow Flyer

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 3, 2023 at 15:34 #1629508Just looked on oddschecker to see if it’d be worth punting Luccia NRNB for the Supreme but Williamhill (NRNB) price her up at 7s for the Supreme where she’s either 16/1 or 25/1 everywhere else!
Could still be worth taking that 7/1 though as like you said she’ll only run there if she bolts up in this.
January 3, 2023 at 15:40 #1629509Even if she wins the Tolworth she still has Facile Vega to beat in the Supreme.
Even if she wins the Tolworth she still has Ashroe Diamond and alike to beat in the Mares Novices Hurdle.I know which race I would go for ;o)
January 3, 2023 at 15:42 #1629511I’m going to do some Cheltenham acca’s next week involving Luccia and Ashroe Diamond, can’t see past the two of them in the Mares Novie tbh
January 3, 2023 at 16:15 #1629515“William Hill (NRNB) price her up at 7s for the Supreme where she’s either 16/1 or 25/1 everywhere else!”
And that shows why NRNB from New Year’s Day is a joke.
January 3, 2023 at 18:05 #1629539I’d wait until more firms price up, but there won’t be much value in these NRNB markets.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"January 3, 2023 at 19:50 #1629545I will have an enormous strop if luccia runs in the Supreme

Iv her backed at 25s for the MNH and in loads of free bet doubles with other fancies
It would be very unlike nicky and facile will surely scare him off
Hopefully, if she wins, its not by too far.
January 3, 2023 at 20:04 #1629551Of course a Mares Novice is going to be an easier option on paper.
But she’ll carry 5lbs more if winning on Saturday and be running in a G2. So it’s not a wild shout to say they’d run in the much more prestigious race, getting 7lbs off the geldings. Especially if NH has no other options.
Ashroe Diamond has been running in the races the likes of Airlie Beach and Statuaire won, and while they had G1 pens for the Mares Novice, they weren’t seen to be good enough. Mullins still has plenty of options to reveal for the MN.
Luccia owner’s quotes below:
“Nicky will probably ask me about the Supreme and the Dawn Run and my reply would be that it’s an owner’s dream to get into the Supreme and it’s an opportunity that would be sad to lose.
“Having said that, it would be better to win a slightly easier race, which I think the Dawn Run is, than coming third or fourth in the Supreme.
“Those are my thoughts and I’ll probably leave the decision to Nicky, although it’s possibly unlikely I ever get another chance in the Supreme, so it would be a shame not to run.
“If Nicky thinks we’ve a much better chance in the mares’ novice hurdle, we’d probably run in that, but if she wins by 17 lengths on Saturday I’m sure Nicky will edge towards the Supreme! A lot will depend on what happens.”

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 3, 2023 at 21:09 #1629559More exposed but Authorised Speed has ran 2 strong races this year , Moore isn’t one to throw to many at the Champion bumper so the fact he was there last year marks him out as
a horse to followPick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 4, 2023 at 02:07 #1629588Luccia 16/1 for supreme without Facile Vega @ bet365 if any one interested in that just in case wins by wide margin at weekend as cover for mares novice hurdle
January 4, 2023 at 13:56 #1629612Luccia taken out
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
January 4, 2023 at 14:14 #1629616interesting, does Nicky think the ground could be too soft perhaps?
January 4, 2023 at 14:45 #1629624Just seen, dirty scope – https://www.racingpost.com/news/latest/tolworth-favourite-and-cheltenham-festival-fancy-luccia-to-miss-sandown/594679
“Henderson said on Wednesday: “I’m afraid she won’t be able to run as she’s scoped unsatisfactorily and it wouldn’t be right to run her under those circumstances.
“She’s fine. She’s not sick or unwell, but she’s got a bit of mucus down her windpipe, which needs clearing up before she can run. She’s fit and well and couldn’t be better in herself, but it’s one of those things and she’s a bit of mucus in her lower airway.”
January 4, 2023 at 17:33 #1629636Backed Authorised Speed ealier this week. I was impressed by his two previous runs at Lingfield and Sandown and his bumper form is good as well. Soft or heavy ground is expected and that does seem to suit him. The yard is flying as well. Unfortunately for the race, but luckily for me one of his big rivals is out the race now.
Authorised Speed 11/2
