    Hi all

Is it me or is Tom Segal in a rich vein of form? Today he tipped Tominator at 50/1 <!– s:shock: –><!– s:shock: –> Didn’t take a blind bit of notice myself <!– s:( –>:(<!– s:( –>

If you call a 50/1 winner a rich vein of form, yes.

I have backed the horse several times myself but didn’t think he would handle the going. I doubt that it was as soft as expected and to be fair he has bolted up.

Was at Newcastleand haven’t seen times but certainly thought the ground was no worse than good to soft (probably on the good side of GTS).

Big crowd, sunny day and despite my fears about a Saturday summer crowd everyone was well behaved and enjoying themselves.

Well done Tom Segal, that one took a bit of finding.

No I don’t call finding a 50/1 winner a rich vein of form. It seems he’s picked a few good bets lately…..er that’s all really.

It’s easy for a horse to win at 2m off of a featherweight when he has been crying out for the distance and held back for the big day. A right touch if you ask me, fair play to Segal for spotting a horse that was being lined up for a big pay day at the expense of every punter who previously backed it over an inadequate distance.

He is different gravy. Its alright being a flash in the pan, however he just keeps churning out winners. Wonder what is profit/loss is to £1 stake. Any one have info?

Have a look on Tipsterform. We keep a record of his tips and record P&L at £100 a point. Hes about 5pts down since Jan 1st and 55 pts ahead since Sept 1st.

He’s spent much of 2011 in France. I didn’t think such skullduggery happened over there because of their excellent prize money.

Don’t think you’d call the Hollinshead stable a gambling yard either.

My brother was a stable lad there for 6 years in the 80s and you can count the number of winning tips he came home with on the digits of Captain Hooks hooked hand!

Aside from that he went into this race rated 90. Assuming that the stable thought Tominator to be favoured by the two mile trip, I wouldn’t imagine that there would be a pile of options for him over this sort of distance anyway. He would pretty much have been forced into events of similar class to the Northumberland Plate at the top courses.

Other tah nthe distance it’s not as if the hrose’s form wasn’t there for all to see. He’d won twice and most of the time was staying on at the end of his previous races. Add to that, he’d only been out of the first 4 once in his last seven runs in Britain. Indeed, if it hadn’t been for his beaten form in France, I suspect he’d have been a shorter price here. Tominator had form to give him a chance in the Plate but then, as I discussed with David Cormack on course, so did many of the field in what looked a very open contest.

As an aside, if I took one out of this contest it’s Petara Bay, who ran a cracker in staying on for fourth. Might be worth bearing in mind for then near future as his recent runs suggest he’s crying out for an extended trip.

Just an example of why finding value in a race is important. Tom Segal A.K.A Pricewise although its a team effort really found a 50/1 which was backed down to 25/1 which most of us including me would love to back.

You’d want balls of steel to be still following him since January

Well you don`t have to blindly follow him,but theres no doubt for months now his information has been classic. And has turned up some very clver winners. He tips more than one of course, and ,if your unlucky or lazy or rushing, and don`t turn over the page, you`d have missed it,as his main selection was on the page before

Have to disagree with you in relation to a couple of things there Roddy

    1. Where a tipster specialises in tipping big-priced winners, in order to make money following him, you really do have to back every single one because you can’t afford to miss a day in case that is the day that the 50/1 winner wipes out the previous 49 losses

    2. As TipsterForm says on previous page, prior to Saturday, his Pricewise column was almost 60 pts down since 01-Jan and that’s a lot of losers for anyone’s bank to bear. A lot of these were unplaced as well (believe me I know, I was backing them!)

Now I’m not knocking Tom because he knows what he is doing (his reasoning for his selections is worth buying the paper for more than the actual tips IMO) and everyone goes through a bad patch but sometimes I do feel that we are a little in awe of him, not least because of the glorified hyped-up crap that the RP puts up after he tips a winner. I mean he tipped 13 losers in a row at Royal Ascot before Brown Panther went in and the headline in the RP next day was something along the lines of "Bookies reeling after Pricewise tips a 9/1 winner". The RP should really have the full stats to hand for all to see. Otherwise it’s just all smoke and mirrors.
