After the recent will or wont they be running trains thankfully Merseyrail were able to provide a full service to the thousands of people who enjoyed a sunny April afternoon at the home of the Grand National.

Arrving at 11.30 as normal for a meet up with friends i had a nice spot of lunch after finding out i could not walk on the turf to go up to The Chair which was annoying but never mind.

Decent card with Three Grade One races being decent support to the feature Hunter Chase.

As usual their was a fashion parade with Jeff Banks showing off his new works for the year i believe and later i saw him dancing with some buxom tart as a band played some Jackson Five covers in the Red Rum Garden near the parade ring, Dont know what Rummy would think about that.

Liverpool day was opened by Ricky Tomlinson dressed as a jockey with his Jim Royle vest showing through which was a wonderful advert for the people of Liverpool i bet, Still just be thankful that they didnt get Kerry Katona.

Racing wise Big Bucks set the ball rolling and What A Friend was tough in the Bowl winning for Sir Alex who looked a lot more chirpier after what happened the night before and to win a Grade One in Merseyside was even better, around the winners enclosure some tosser i mean Liverpool fan shouted "Thats the only trophy your gonna lift" not realising that the Carling Cup is in the Old Trafford cabinet and that Liverpool will probably not win anything.

All in all a very enjoyable first day and tomorrow is Ladies Day which means that Matalan,Primark and various tanning places will make a roaring trade as will Durex and various Morning After pill companies depending on how the night progresses.

Well done Neil. Let`s hope they can find werrk for KK on the esteemed Ladies Day. I won`t mind if it`s for the BBC in place of one of their many makeweights. The presence of Margi Clark wouldn`t make me cringe more than I already am.
