Does anyone subscribe to tipsters? A company called S M I S claim to have the best in the land.Mick Fitz,Mark Winstanley,Graham Bradley,Kim Brassey etc.
Any way I tried some of these services and what a pile of garbage they produce.Endless odds on chances and short priced favs. They seem to get well backed and most get beat.S M I S are then totally unaccountable when you question the tips, dont speak to you, ignore emails etc.
Please dont anyone be fooled into using there services you will lose lots of money. You are best advised in picking your own selections.
They offer you all sorts of promises but change the goal posts, they also treat you with contempt.NOT TO BE TRUSTED.
They gave a G Bradley trial and after 4 weeks he tipped 56 horses and 6 won.Very short prices he must of been embarressed. They withdrew it and then re introduced it 2 wks later,on the 1st day he tipped a 9/4 winner and they ended the trial and said he was the best thing since sliced bread. They then conned people into subscribing into his service.
Has anyone else counterd these rascals?
And Mark Winstanley…..what a plonker he is.He talks a good story but cant tip a wheel barrow!!!!
They all claim inside information but is there such a thing ???
January 6, 2010 at 23:57 #268371Have never used tipsters and despite my name I am not one. Don’t think we should presume all tipsters are the same though. Judging who is a good one is difficult, everyone goes thhrough a losing run at some point.
Value Is EverythingJanuary 7, 2010 at 00:09 #268374But these people are supposedly in ”the know”.they say they speak with the agents, the jockeys, the trainers etc.their strike rates are very poor over a long period of time.

Never used one personally and the only one I ever knew personally was Marten Julian. Honest as the day is long and could dig out some great winners. Gave me more than a few winner and one in particular trained by P Beaumont was in 6 or 7 horse race at Kelso……….50/1 and 33/1 outsider won by half the track and went on to run in top class races…..sorry name escapes me. That was back in the days when you would have been forgiven for mistaking Marten for Jesus Christ as he used to have a beard long hair and wore a white coat. He’s certainly lasted the test of time and is still around.
Obviously there are some real chancers out there who play the numbers game but some go about it in a professional manner so I wouldn’t be so quick to say they are all useless.

There may even be one or two "tipsters" or "ex-tipsters" on TRF.

I speak to a carpenter on a daily basis , but I can’t build a bookshelf.
If you were to ask 100 people how they pick the horses they bet on, you would get 100 different answers. A trainer can only tell you what he thinks of a horse,if it is fit and if it will like the going. This MAY give you an indication. But, as you have a horse and a jockey involved nothing is certain. The horse does not know the trainer and owners have put their house on it.
Read as much as you can on different systems and amend them to suit your style of betting. It was all going so well until that last line Happy.
Value Is EverythingJanuary 7, 2010 at 10:01 #268421Kim Brassey is a top man:
When he trained in upper Lambourn back in the 80’s he gave me the rundown on his top sprinter "Amigo Menor", he told me he would run 3 times, and on the 3rd outing he will be wearing blinkers, so get on.
On his 3rd outing he ran at Lingfield with blinkers on and won at 7/1.January 7, 2010 at 10:05 #268424People use tipsters as an excuse to blame someone else when the horse loses.
We are, as one old sage wisely said, our own direction.
Anyhow, on the house… Denman to win 2010 Cheletenham Gold Cup. Fill yer boots !

What I meant was; there are very few systems worth reading, because they don’t take true value in to account. Therefore, "reading as much as you can on different systems" is (imo) a waste of time. Whether you tweek them or not. Simpler to concentrate on the one or two that do take true odds in to account.
But each to their own.
Value Is EverythingJanuary 7, 2010 at 13:42 #268511Oh no here we go again with True odds lol!
Dont understand anyone who follows other peoples tips. If your betting with someone elses money then feel free to follow someone elses advice. But I bet with my own money…and I want to make my own decisions for my own reasons about where my money goes. Makes winner finding more satisfying too!
January 7, 2010 at 15:11 #268543Not so much a reply rather a question. How do I start a new topic, I can’t find the link?
I’m new to this forum but have a background in racing going back too long (First Cheltenham bet Mill House in 1963)

January 7, 2010 at 15:30 #268549The glorious uncertainty of racing. I have never used a tipping line, but I think Hugh Taylor on the ATR and Price Wise do a good job, although its near impossible to get on at the advertised prices.
