That Aruldur form is surely well short of what is required on Saturday, Gaz, though he has a line with Fix The Rib which theoretically makes him of some interest.
I can’t have him either though!
Opposing the Nicholls runners on the big Saturday’s. Judge!

The race with Araldur last year was only 1-2 seconds slower than the Master Minded victory in the Tingle Creek, so i dont think that performance on it’s own was that bad.
As you say though, with a line through Fix The Rib, he is interesting, well, in my opinion anyway.
33s is a big price.
December 1, 2009 at 13:23 #261498If Free World wins this, I’ll give up. He either has a wind problem or doesn’t get home. He has no chance against this quality on Saturday!
December 1, 2009 at 13:35 #261500Free World had a wind op in the summer I believe.
December 1, 2009 at 13:55 #261506It didn’t appear to work judged on his run a couple of weeks ago!
December 1, 2009 at 14:37 #261513Conditions at Sandown will play to Fix The Rib’s strengths far more than at Cheltenham. If they can’t make a race of it with the best either here or in the VC, they may as well stay at home at Cheltenham because the likelihood is he’ll be needing oxygen on the run to the last.

33s is a big price. You are damn right there Gaz,Free world was my 2nd choice for last years Arkle, but you cant back them all!

Has Barry been out with Paul Carberry? He"s going to get a sore Ar*e riding Big Zeb!
December 1, 2009 at 17:09 #261553Having checked the market, on what planet should Twist Magic be a shorter price than Well Chief over 2m on any course?
I know he likes Sandown, but the bookies have got that one wrong for my money. Favourite seems a worthy one mind, perhaps agree with Fist that Well Chief place could be the bet, or no bet at all more likely.

Twist Magic is unpredictable, but he ran well at Exeter, has had plenty of time to recover, loves it at Sandown and was running a hell of a race when coming to grief behind Master Minded last season. Compare that to Well Chief, who had a hard race following a lay-off at Cheltenham, has been difficult to keep sound and ran 10lbs below his best last time.
Twist Magic, for me, has every right to be shorter than Well Chief – and the money seems to be coming for him.
December 1, 2009 at 18:43 #261573If you had to choose in a match to save your life would you choose Twist Magic or Well Chief?

Around Sandown, against an aging, glass-legged rival, Twist Magic.
December 1, 2009 at 19:41 #261587Fair enough – i’ll beg to differ, all the best. But i don’t think Sandown is that much of a disadvantage for Well Chief in comparison, if at all.
December 1, 2009 at 19:43 #261589In my opinion, the price for Well Chief represents that the bookies seem to think he isn’t capable of putting in another performance like he did in the Connaught Chase. Possibly that they think he wont have recovered sufficiently in time for another hard race.
Twist Magic has run well everytime he has gone round Sandown.
He ran a great race when beating Voy Por in the Tingle Creek in 2007, and i was on him in 2008 when he came down in the race that Master Minded won, which was gutting as he was going very well at the time.
Should he be shorter than Well Chief in the market, on raw ability, no. But there are many other things to consider, such as above.
Who would i rather be on? ? ? Well Chief, everyday.
December 1, 2009 at 22:44 #261632With the injury problems he’s had I didn’t think I’d ever see Well Chief line up for a Tingle Creek Chase again.
David Pipe has done a fabulous job with the horse and I really hope he wins on Saturday.December 1, 2009 at 22:47 #261635Too many ‘ifs, buts and maybes’ about the rest, which is the last thing you need when trying to dig out the winner of a two-miler around Sandown, so I’m left with Well Chief[/color:2zqii0if]…..
He was on the bridle for a long way at Cheltenham and finished with plenty enough in the tank to leave me with no fears about the race having left its mark on him.
CAJ was impressive last time but still managed to miss out one of the railways if memory serves me – and that was at his own leisure.
