What sort of scale do you rate what happened today.
Is he either a complete an utter fool who once again proves that he brain can be left in the changing room
or
Was the horse a difficult ride and being sympathetic on the run in could prove dividends for the future.
Personally as i had a Monster Bet on Jessie i was furious not so much with the ride but the attitude of the rider 3 out and 2 out. Not angry with the final fence jump.

The Grade 2 Novice at Leapardstown
January 9, 2011 at 19:07 #335224From the form book the horse would not appear to be a difficult ride.
Murphy is not a jockey I particularly like, however horses get given bad rides day in day out.Paul Townend on Blackstairmountain yesterday being one example.
You just have to try to take it on the chin which is not always easy I know.
January 9, 2011 at 19:08 #335225I cant believe Blackstairs stopped basically yesterday. For me he didn’t stay
January 9, 2011 at 19:31 #335227Found it difficult to believe that he didn’t challenge before the last. Too confident or did Davy Russell fool him into thinking his horse was tiring.
Difficult to know what to think of Jessies Dream for the future, but it was a day when December’s form was very suspect.
January 9, 2011 at 19:52 #335228Not a very good result for those touting Jessies Dream as a challenger to Time For Rupert. Made even worse by the fact that the winner was very hesitant at several fences and probably forfeited more than five lengths.
It looked as if Jessies Dream could/should have picked the winner up but clearly he didn’t find as much as the rider expected.
No doubt similarly to Zaidpour there will be those wanting to forgive, particularly if you are on ante-post but both horses now have blots on their records and will be trying to beat Cue Card and Time For Rupert who have course and better form already in the book.

In a slowly run race, on (timed) ground no worse than g/s, and over a distance probably short of his best, Jessies Dream would probably still have won 3l – had he been ridden anywhere near as positively as his previous outing.
However, that was a gd1 worth 46k, today’s was minor in comparison, and there can be little doubt that Timmy Murphy was more concerned with the future than in giving the horse a hard time at his particular stage.
His lto run remains rock solid form, imo. - AuthorPosts
