I don’t know why I put [expletive] for ‘Sh*t’! (You can’t win ’em all), in the Barry Humphries anecdote about the mayor of Sydney. A senior moment.

This is moving the goalposts slightly from ‘verbal warfare’ isn’t it.
Perhaps, although any sort of criticism could be classified as "verbal warfare" in the current climate. (I mean Segal only said McCoy wouldn’t be in his top five choices for Denman – and that caused a huge furore among the "inner circle"!)
February 16, 2010 at 21:34 #277244Although, as I said, I don’t really like rancorous carry-ons between people, I have to say that Ferguson’s winding up of the likes of Benitez, Wenger and Keegan(!), or rather their reactions, have me in stitches.

How about some banter on the subject of a certain Channel Four racing host at Newbury on Saturday who looked and sounded like he had a stroke the night before. It was either that or a skinful during the afternoon’s festivities.
Doesn’t Sheik Momo virtually sponsor the coverage of racing on Channel 4? I think he’d pull the pin pretty fast if the good people he pays for start rocking the boat verbally. Either that or order some wholesale retrenchments. Diplomay is the way of the upper classes and international rulers. Not surprised it plays a big role in the "Sport Of Kings". Instead of verbal stoushing simply don’t spend a penny with your enemies on their bloodstok. Job done.
