The handicapper must have been very impressed with his Aintree run and must have thought he would have gone very close if he hadn’t been knocked over at the Canal Turn.

Oddly enough Phil Smith appears to bend backwards to get all the runners in the handicap at Aintree but not give a monkeys elsewhere.
If Tidal Bay had been rated 5 lbs lower at Ayr a further 12 horses would have been in the handicap and the rest only a few pounds out.

It is imo dishonest for the Handicapper to intentionally give any horse less weight than its form suggests.
