Been debating whether to take 5/2 on

    Bobs Worth

to win outright or back him in Paddy Power’s three place insure bet market at 11/10. I’ve come down on the side of the latter, just for some added insurance.

    Betfair Chase
    Bobs Worth
    €40 win @ 11/10 (PP 3 place insure bet)

    I won’t be backing

    Annie Power

again at 4/6, but I will be backing

    The Game Changer

    in Gowran.

    Gowran 12.50
    The Game Changer (7/2)

    Haydock 3.00
    Bobs Worth (9/4)

    €5 e/w double (PP)

Will probably have more on this double tomorrow as well as some on The Game Changer, but expect/hope I might get better than 7/2 in the morning. The only negative about TGC imo is the jockey booking. He looks like he needs holding up but Lynch seems to like being up with the pace. Hopefully Charlie will let him know what needs to be done

    He’d better THM

Any day The Game Changer runs is a Big Day VTC :)

    Gowran 12.50
    The Game Changer (7/2)

    Haydock 3.00
    Bobs Worth (9/4)

Price has actually shortened on TGC but another

    €15 e/w double @ 9/4 & 3/1 (PP)

    Gowran 12.50
    The Game Changer
    €40 win @ 9/4 (PP 2 place insure bet)

    Hi Tommy

I have to agree with BOB’S WORTH & ANNIE POWER, both earmarked for The Festival

Bob’s Worth is half of my short list for The Gold Cup (With Mossey Joe)
Annie Power looks The Real Deal

    Hi CS, how are things?

Really hope Annie Power states her Champion Hurdle claims today. If she can’t beat Zarkandar at today’s conditions then my 25/1 ante post on her won’t look great.

Couldn’t have Mossey Joe. He’ll be 11 in March and while he looked promising in his younger days but his form is a long way short of winning a Gold Cup imo. Do you not think it’s more likely he’ll end up in the Foxhunters’ anyway?

Disappointed with The Game Changer there. Jumped well but was very keen on the outside of the field, soon as he hit the front he stopped quickly. I’m considering myself fortunate that he placed third as the favourite took a nasty fall on the level. Hopefully horse and jockey are okay.

Apparently he is being aimed at The Festival. David MacNamara said after Stratford "This proves he travels fine and a tilt at the Cheltenham Festival next year is now firmly on the cards."
If he’d ran in The Galway Plate and won (He surely would have off that weight) he wouldn’t have been eligible for The Foxhunters. That just leaves The Gold Cup.
A reproduction of his Stratford run (Course record broken in a hack canter by 7sec on no faster than good ground) would put him right in the mix.
If he goes for The Foxhunters he’s the safest bet since Freddie won it in 1963

A tough day today but the show must go on.

I’m afraid the ground might be gone too dry for

    Goonyella

who has done almost all his racing on soft or heavy going. Given that he took all of 3m 6f at Punchestown to overhaul Vesper Bell, I’m going to let him run tomorrow. I can see him running a nice race in 5th or 6th, hopefully he won’t win anyway :P

I’m pluming for the Pricewise horse,

    Pass The Hat

. His recent chase win over Dushybeag and Seefood reads well, considering Dushybeag is a 128 rated hurdler. Pass The Hat runs off 120 here. That was his first chase run over 2.5 miles, his other outings having been over shorter. It would be no surprise to see him improve again when stepped up to three miles. Given his connections, it would be no surprise if this race has been the plan for some time.

Elsewhere on the card, Moyle Park and Wrath Of Titans lock horns again. Moyle Park did things the hard way imo that day at Punchestown, for an inexperienced horse to hit the front over half a mile out in a Land Rover and then fight off ll comers, serious performance. He should beat Wrath Of Titans again I feel, although there’s no doubt both are nice horses.

My RSA punt Ballycasey starts his chasing career over 2m 1f. He’s been well backed already and is around 4/6, too short imo to beat what could be a high class two miler in Ned Buntline. Wouldn’t be at all surprised if Ned Buntline proved too quick for Ballycasey tomorrow, I had earmarked him as a potential Supreme Novices horse last season. A race to watch I feel.

The 2m 4f novice hurdle looks very competitive. I like two in it: Empire Of Dirt (16/1) and Apache Stronghold (6/1). However I won’t be getting involved until closer to the race as I’m afraid one of the Giggy horses will be pulled, leaving seven runners and unattractive each way terms.

Have just noticed that Wrath Of Titans received 10 lbs from Moyle Park at Punchestown, a whopping 15 lbs if Jane Mangan’s claim is taken into account  He only receives three tomorrow, and while you’d expect a four year old to come forward more than a five year old on average, I don’t think he’ll have made up the bones of a stone on the Mullins horse. Having made this remarkable observation, I’d strongly fancy Moyle Park tomorrow.

I looked at Ballycasey for the RSA myself. Given that Ted Walsh talked up his schooling session on ATR and he was one of the big ante-post punts from the Fesival are you not a little concerned that 25/1 remains freely available? Add to that at this stage he remains very much hype over substance in terms of actual form. Today the stiff track should compensate for the inadequate distance and if it comes to any sort of a battle I wouldn’t put much trust in Ned Buntline.

I wouldn’t say I’m concerned by it but it is a little strange. To be honest I think the whole ante post market for the RSA is a little out of kilter, so I’m not reading too much into it. If he disappoints in his next couple of runs then he probably won’t even run so the NRFB appeals. If he proves himself good enough to run I doubt he’ll be 25/1. Ned Buntline looks a typical Meade horse who needs to be held up and produced late but he’s talented. I think Ballycasey will win but no bet for me at odds on.

    Can’t believe

    Moyle Park

is available at 4/5, thought he’d be 4/7 so have to have a punt on that. Hopefully ruby can get him settled – if he does I can only see one winner.

You were just a flash in the pan THM

Decent stuff at Navan today, love these Sunday meetings in Ireland. Canter for Moyle Park there, well done.

    Thinking of a wee Mug 15 with…….

1325 – Apache Stronghold, or Empire of Dirt
Troytown – Panther Claw, Goonyela, or Mad Brian, or etc etc
    1425 – Jetson
1525 – Midnight Streaker. One of my "Midnight" horses, but showed a wee bit of ability last time, and on that showing could sneak a place at the 50’s.

ps Good luck today, hope Ballycasey runs a blinder.

Moyle Park looks another class prospect for Mullins, might have had more on but I felt a bit shaken after Bobs Worth yesterday

Hard to know what to make of Jetson’s last few runs, still think he should have won at Cheltenham :(

Ruby just said on ATR the ground is more soft than good, think I’ve made my bed regarding Goonyella though :| Might add him later, will see what others say over the afternoon.

I’m torn between Empire Of Dirt and Apache Stronghold. :?

Last run, although in hot company, was too bad to be true, but willing to give him another chance. Should definitely have won at Cheltenham, just given a really poor ride….. :x
