Felix Yonger is a non runner which is very disappointing, the 7/4 I had had long gone. Hopefully The Game Changer will do the business, being well supported.
November 3, 2013 at 13:49 #457199Thanks VTC, big day as I said!
The Game Changer was unlucky when brought down in the Land Rover and has a huge reputation. The Mullins horse could be anything but 4/7 for a horse off the track for a year, wearing a hood too, seems very short. But then again maybe he’s that short for a reason, despite the negatives.
Either way I think The Game Changer is too big at 7/2. I’ve already put him in an each way double with Felix Yonger (got 3/1 on TGC in that), and have just taken 11/4 for him in a straight win single.

At least someone’s picking winners eh
November 3, 2013 at 16:04 #457213Big word for Discover Wexford in the bumper, I’m not on but she should go close!

Thanks Boz, very happy with The Game Changer’s performance. If he learned to jump he could be a serious animal. He pretty much pulled his way to the lead half a mile out, and idled in front, I’d say he’s capable of a lot better than the bare form.
November 3, 2013 at 19:45 #457224Well done THM & TGC
November 4, 2013 at 00:22 #457260Thanks VTC, not for the the first time The Game Changer produces the goods

Looking ahead to this weeks racing. Fairyhouse stage a seven race card on Wednesday, where
Apache Stronghold
is the standout entry.
Thurles is on Thursday. The first race is a beginners chase, where
The Paparazzi Kid
is of interest. There is a Listed Chase over 2m 6f with a good entry. The promising
Turnandgo
is entered in a maiden hurdle over 2m 6f.
November 4, 2013 at 19:35 #457323I think Cue Card is a bet at better than evens. He has to concede masses of weight all round but I think he’s probably a few pounds better than his official rating. He was rated about a stone lighter when winning last year, but it’s hardcto see too many dangers. If Somersby was at his best he’d be fav off that sort of weight but he looks regressive whereas Cue Card loojed to be still improving towards the end of last season. Williams Wishes is a nice horse and is the one I’d fear. I’ve taken Power’s 11/8.
Exeter 2.50
Cue Card
€20 win @ 11/8 (PP)+ €23.75
November 6, 2013 at 12:04 #457437Cue Card a shade disappointing yesterday, didn’t jump well and looked uncertain at a good few fences. As Steeplechasing has said elsewhere, he jumps better when Joe Tizzard helps him attack a fence but unfortunately he didn’t receive much help from the saddle in that regard yesterday.
Two bets today, one of them very small! The main bet is
Stoney
in the 1.55 Fairyhouse, a two mile maiden hurdle. The horse seems to be held in quite high regard, having been well fancied on more than one occasion. He ran a good race when second in a Thurles bumper last time out, he travels well and should be hard to keep out of the frame. The hot favourite is Willie McCreery’s Kick On Boss, who has some good bumper form, splitting Outlander and Grand Jesture on his second start. However I think he’s a bit short at 5/6 and will take him on with Stoney who looks to be improving in a race that doesn’t look over strong.
I’ll also have a small punt on
Miller Of Glanmire
in the 1.25, he was well fancied for a Galway bumper (where he cost me a packet) before running down the field in a maiden hurdle at Tipperary. The manner in which he stopped that day suggests something may have been amiss. He looks a quirky animal, and I don’t think he’s put it all in on his two race course starts. He looked the archetypal pig at Galway, but the way he traveled last time hints at an engine in their somewhere. He’s 14/1 to win outright, but PP have him 12/1 in their 3-place insurebet market, which appeals more. I’ll risk a fiver on him more in hope than expectation.
1.25 Fairyhouse
Miller Of Glanmire
€5 win @ 12/1 (PP, 3-place insurebet)1.55 Fairyhouse
Stoney
€10 e/w @ 4/1 (PP)PP now gone 7/2 but 4/1 still available elsewhere

I honestly can’t believe that 4/5 is available onWrath Of Titans
in the bumper today, thought he’s be 1/2. He was second to Moyle Park in the Land Rover after hacking up in a point, should win today.
3.55 Thurles
Wrath Of Titans
€25 win @ 4/5 (Boyles)- €21.25
November 8, 2013 at 00:24 #457604I’ve been wondering when Willie Mullins is going to start sending horses over to England and next Saturday’s Paddy Power Gold Cup looks the perfect place with the perfect horse for the race.
Marito
was about two or three lengths down and closing when coming to grief two out in the Jewson. I’m not saying he would have won but he was gaining on the leaders and Ruby’s hadn’t really gone for him. It’d be a brave man that’d say he definitely would have been beaten and he surely would have went close.
Considering how he raced off levels with Dynaste and Captain Conan that day, I find it very hard to see either of those two conceding 12 lbs to the Ricci horse. What’s hard to believe are the prices: Dynaste 5/1 generally, Captain Conan 12/1 generally and Marito 14/1 generally.
I can only assume the price differential is due to the fact that Mullins generally doesn’t have a runner in these races and I must admit that’s my big worry. However, considering that Mullins has hinted at sending more horses across this season I think it’s worth taking a punt on Marito taking his chance at 14/1. He weighted off his Irish mark of 147 and I think they’ll be missing a trick if they don’t run. If he runs he’ll go off 6 or 7/1 in my opinion.
Paddy Power Gold Cup

€25 win @ 4/5 (Boyles)Wrath Of Titans was made to work hard in the bumper but his jockey didn’t go for the whip and I think he was confident he was always holding the runner up. There was a Rule 4 deduction.

November 8, 2013 at 00:47 #457610Our Conor out of the Morgiana because he’s not had enough time to recover after getting cuts on his legs at Naas.
Danny Mullins seemed to put the horse in every barging match and spot of trouble going that day, looks like there were consequences to that poor ride unfortunately.

I commented on that ride at the time. It was obviously even worse than I first thought. A really great first racecourse association with the horse.
Owner has three potentially very promising horses in Our Conor, The Tullow Tank and Foxrock. Unfortunately, with Mullins aboard you couldn’t back any of them with any confidence. If any half-decent jockey got on board you could chalk them up another 7lbs, maybe even more. Yesterday, The Tullow Tank got him out of trouble and really should have won with zero fuss on the bridle. Foxrock has had several runs over the wrong trip and has not been ridden to best advantage. Stamina not speed is his asset. He looks a potential National horse. Perhaps they can consider the National Hunt Chase along the way because that would at least mean getting a better jockey on board. Home Farm was another National horse who ran very well over the wrong trip in the opener.

The Tullow Tank a great example of horse getting jockey out of trouble, should have won on the snaff as you say. I was a bit disappointed in Turnandgo, who looks like he wants a significant step up in trip. He never stopped in fairness but looked painfully one paced over two miles. Mount Benbulben is another exciting horse but you’d always fear the worst unfortunately.
