Giving
Uncle Junior
one more chance in the first at Punchestown.
Punchestown 2.30

€5 e/w @ 5/1 (PP)April 27, 2013 at 13:28 #437613You have to take notice when Mullins sends one across the water, and imo
Away We Go
is a very fair price at 6/1 for the Bet365 Gold Cup. He was cruising coming into the straight in the Irish National before being out-stayed by the winner. The better ground could help him get the trip and with PP paying 5 places each way I’m having a punt.
Sandown 3.50
Away We Go
€10 e/w @ 6/1 (PP)April 27, 2013 at 13:43 #437614Only three runners left in the novice chase at Punchestown, but I’ve an Aupcharlie fan since his run against Back In Focus which was very eye catching. He has to bounce back from a terrible run last time but Mikael D is very hit and miss so a small bet on the Potts horse.
Punchestown 3.10
Aupcharlie
€8.50 win @ 6/4 (PP)April 27, 2013 at 14:10 #437616I have to confess that for a period I lost my confidence and didn’t put up a number of bets here when the thread was going bad.
Very honest of you Tommy, there’s 2 things in life that eat away at your confidence, one is Women and the others Horseracing,I treat them both the same and thats why my confidence is King! Women love to laugh and horses love to win, unless you’re names ‘Sanctuaire’,Women love winners and horses laugh at you when you lose………As do Women! Landing an Ante-Post coup at double figure prices is nearly as good as Sex and I always have Sex after a good winner,I cant remember the last time I had Sex come to think of it………Oh yeh next weekend!!
April 27, 2013 at 14:23 #437619
Very good Gord!Aupcharlie burst the 2nd last and then went at the last, looked like it would have been close but they are there to be jumped! Ted Walsh likening Mikael to a bullock

I had the exact same bet THM, hopefully things will fall into place for her soon.
Hope so Bobby, she ran a very good race the other day, beaten by a smart mare who jumped poorly so can’t complain about the result.

The Paparazzi Kid
€7.50 e/w @ 6/1 (Boyles)Might also back Diakali later, he’s head and shoulders above the field imo.

The Game Changer
was sold to Noel Meade for 190k last night.

Away We Go
€10 e/w @ 6/1 (PP)Traveled very well up to the 2nd last which he clouted, but was well beaten into third anyway. A good run but perhaps would benefit from a drop in trip.
+ €25
Putting the €25 on Diakali (therefore p/l remains the same) in the Four Year Old Hurdle at Punchestown. He has the best form of those in the race and imo the most scope for improvement. His runs at Leopardstown and Cheltenham were excellent and are much better than what anything else in this field has done.
Punchestown 5.00
Diakali
€25 win @ 4/5 (BV)April 27, 2013 at 15:44 #437641Have you heard anything about Summer Star who runs in the 535 ?
April 27, 2013 at 15:51 #437642Hi Lone wolf, haven’t heard anything about her and never have I must admit! I backed her two runs back when she just got up at Leopardstown and she looked like she was crying out for a step up in trip. She’ll get that today so I wouldn’t be surprised if she goes close. She should handle conditions too and only carries 9-13. I’ve got a fancy for The Paparazzi Kid but you’ve helped me convince myself to have a small punt on Summer Star now too

Punchestown 7.35
Summer Star
€5 win @ 12/1 (PP)+ €150
April 27, 2013 at 16:12 #437646I think if you follow her Tommy you won’t be out of pocket if you manage your stake accordingly. It’s just a matter of time. Here’s hoping. Martin Pipe form worked out quite well in the first at sandown, so maybe DR is on the worthy favourite.
April 27, 2013 at 16:43 #437649Well in again THM.
April 27, 2013 at 19:07 #437668Thanks LW, nice way to end the thread with a 7/1 winner

Diakali (SP Evens) returns
The Paparazzi Kid (SP 7/1) returns
Meaning final p/l is:I’ve had either 5 or 6 threads on here so far, and only one has been in the red, so producing another profitable thread is something I’m very happy about.
April 27, 2013 at 19:46 #437669Well done Tommy
April 27, 2013 at 20:41 #437672Good disciplined Work Tommy.I expected your thread to end in profit………..Just like you expect mine too!
July 10, 2013 at 11:19 #445295ANNIE POWER
confirmed the good impression she made when beating Defy Logic by winning the mares’ race today in fine style. I think she has the potential to be a Champion Hurdle mare.
Champion Hurdle 2014
Annie Power
€5 e/w @ 25/1 (BetVictor)[/color]
My only Cheltenham bet so far is the above on Annie Power in the Champion Hurdle. I’ve been pondering an Arkle bet for some time now and when you look at the race I think the obvious place to start is with Willie Mullins horses.
The power in the yard at the moment is phenomenal but for an ante post punter that has its drawbacks as it’s hard to know where they’ll all go. Add to this that some of his are Gigginstown horses and the waters are only muddied further. I’ve managed to ‘guess’ right the past two years with novice chasers’ targets so hopefully I can do the same this year.
The Mullins’ horses quoted for the race are Champagne Fever, Pont Alexandre, Un Atout, Upsie and Pique Sous. Let’s throw out
Pont Alexandre
,
Upsie
and
Pique Sous
straight away as the former is a three miler and the latter two are not good enough imo. I love
Un Atout
– he’s a beautiful looking horse and reminds me so much of his three parts brother Sir Des Champs – but I think Boz is correct in that the Jewson may be the route he takes. He’ll always be in danger of getting outpaced in top class company over two miles, although in all probability he’ll make a better chaser than hurdler. He’s one I can’t wait to see chasing but I’m not convinced he’s an Arkle horse.
Champagne Fever
is as tough as nails and if he was sent on in front in an Arkle it would take a fair animal to go by him. Neither
My Tent Or Yours
or
Jezki
could manage it over hurdles. The Arkle is often won by horses who excel over further than two miles in the future and he looks like he fits that profile as he’ll surely be running over two and a half and three miles in a couple of years. I couldn’t put anyone off backing him but at 6/1 he’s short enough at this stage for a horse that may run elsewhere.
The Mullins horse I quite like is
UN DE SCEAUX
. He was very keen on both his starts but blew me away when he slammed
Moscow Mannon
at Punchestown. That was one hell of a performance. He’s not quoted for the Arkle and it remains to be seen whether he tackles fences or stays hurdling for another season but whatever he does he’s one to watch.
I’d rather back a horse who was a novice hurdler last season than one who’s been running in Champion Hurdles which makes me against
Grandouet
and
Rock On Ruby
. Of the two Rock On Ruby makes more appeal but I wouldn’t be overly keen on either. Likewise
Steps To Freedom
and
Oscar Whisky
make
little appeal.Of the British horses,
Melodic Rendezvous
is my pick. He was very impressive last season and due to my interest in
Empiracle
I followed him closely. I’d like to see him do well as from what I hear they’re very closely rated in the yard! He looks like he’ll make a good chaser and 2-2.5 miles should be his trip. That brings the Jewson into play so it’s hard to advise him at this stage.
This all brings me back to the only Chelltenham bet I’ve had so far – Annie Power. Back in February she had to be at her best when
DEFY LOGIC
(well done Boz!)
tried to burn her off at Naas. Defy Logic strikes me as a very immature, babyish type of horse who’s still learning plenty about the game. He’s a free going sort and AP McCoy fought him all the way in that race at Naas over two miles, then when stepped up to 2 1/2 miles at Fairyhouse he let him bowl along and was headed on the line by Mala Beach. I think he was much the best horse in that race, and back over two miles it will take a fair animal to beat him. He reminds me a bit of Arvika Ligeonniere except it doesn’t matter which way he goes. If he learns to settle he’ll be a force to be reckoned with over the minimum trip.
I think the bookies are underestimating the form of that race at Naas, with Annie Power still 20/1 for the Champion Hurdle and Defy Logic 20/1 for the Arkle. I except that Annie Power is not certain to be aimed at the race but if she had run against Jezki et al at Punchestown what price would she have been? Vying for favouritism imo. I’m going to put my money behind that form.
Arkle 2014
