Surprised Bog Warrior isn’t odds on for tomorrow. He comfortably beat Flemenstar the last time they met and although Flemenstar has improved, Bog Warrior won in a canter that day.
€20 win Bog Warrior @ 1/1

March 10, 2012 at 19:57 #395745thm, I imagine you’ll be on Lord windermere tomorrow but I’d advise you to take a long look at Ballynacree and watch a replay of his debut at Gowran Park.
Exceptionally impressive considering the SP
March 10, 2012 at 20:39 #395751Don’t think I’ll get involved in the race CS. Lord Windemere’s form with Dylan Ross may look good but Dylan Ross dogged it in the finish imo, as he has a habit of doing. Kind of horse that would finish second to Hurricane Fly
Super bet for the Supreme mind
March 12, 2012 at 12:14 #395965Uncle Junior has been my idea of the winner of this since I saw him declared to run at the course last November. He didn’t disappoint that day and he’s an each way bet to nothing tomorrow imo. His jumping seems much better over these obstacles and that is the one aspect of his make up that held him back over fences. I won’t be worried if he comes off the bridle half a mile out because thie lad will stay all day, not even Garde Champetre will be finishing better. Should be favorite imo.
Uncle Junior
€20 e/w @ 4/1 (PP, nrnb, bog)March 13, 2012 at 11:30 #396145€20 win treble with PP:
Sprinter Sacre 10/11
Hurricane Fly 5/6
Quevega 4/9March 13, 2012 at 11:37 #396149CS is quite sweet on Harpsy Chord in the finale, so I’ll have an interest:
€5 e/w Harpsy Chord @ 20/1 (PP)
March 14, 2012 at 01:28 #396478€10 win Kazlian in the Fred Winter @ 8/1 (Ladbrokes).
Heartbreaking loss on Fruity O’Rooney earlier
March 15, 2012 at 11:37 #396917€10 e/w Captain Chris @ 14/1 (placed last night with Ladbrokes)
€10 e/w Becauseicouldntsee @ 12/1
€10 e/w Vole La Vedette without Big Bucks @ 9/1March 16, 2012 at 01:15 #397125€10 e/w Snap Tie @ 14/1
€25 win Long Run @ 2/1Really hope Kauto Star wins but Long Run looks the most likely winner, I’d make him a 6/4 shot.
March 16, 2012 at 14:19 #397218€5 win Mount Benbulben @ 8/1
March 16, 2012 at 14:31 #397222€5 e/w Bradley @ 40/1
March 18, 2012 at 14:41 #397598Askanna runs today in a Grade 3 mare’s novice chase in Limerick at 3.55. It’s obvious that they thought this a better opportunity for her, and her less able stablemate Our Victoria finished 4th in the Cheltenham race. She’s up against a good mare in Knockfierna but in receipt of 8lbs she has to have a chance.
€5 e/w Askanna @ 16/1 (Boylesports)
€10 e/w Askanna without Knockfierna @ 7/1 (Ladbrokes)March 31, 2012 at 20:40 #398942Totted up all the bets since before Cheltenham, profit is now €355.22. This is mainly due to 4 horses: First Lieutenant, Sir Des Champs, Big BUcks and my old favorite Voler La Vedette.
Didn’t think it was that much so this is a welcome tonic after So You Think’s one paced effort today (becoming a regular post race comment for him!).
Looking forward to Fairyhouse, Aintree and Punchestown now with renewed confidence.
Due to REALT DUBH’s defection today, he may now head to Aintree or Fairyhouse. Noel Meade mightn’t fancy a handicap but I certainly would in the Dan Moore Memorial over 2m 1f on the Tuesday of Easter week. I backed Golden Silver to win the race a couple of years back where he gave plenty of weight away and I can see a similar performance from Realt Dubh here. This would also leave him with three weeks to prepare for the Guinness Gold Cup at Punchestown.
In the Irish Grand National QUISCOVER FONTAINE would be of huge interest if he runs here rather that at Aintree. It’s very interesting that he has been kept to hurdles since last year’s race, where he was an eye-catching 4th. If he was confirmed to run I’d back him now but there doesn’t seem to be any news about his intended target.
As for the Aintree showpiece, there’s no need to look any further than BECAUSEICOULDNTSEE (couldn’t resist ). I have great respect for Sunnyhillboy given his beating of one of my main Cheltenham fancies but I think the challenge Aintree presents will suit Becauseicouldntsee better. He may have fallen there last year and I still can’t really put my finger on the cause. He slowed up considerably on the run to the fence, seemingly unable to find a stride. He pinged the first though and I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. He’s a year older and wiser now, and if it were not for last year’s fall you’d have to say the rigors of the Grand National should bring the best out of him. He travels well, likes to race handy, and stays at least 4 miles. I can see him jumping away in the same fashion as Comply Or Die a couple of years back (my only winner of the race btw), racing handy and wide, keeping out of trouble, and hopefully getting into a nice rhythm.
March 31, 2012 at 23:28 #398961Have backed Becauseicouldntsee for the reasons outlined in the above post:
Grand National
€5 e/w Becauseicouldntsee @ 20/1
Paddy Power 1/4 odds 1-2-3-4-5Forgot to add that I joined the many on here who took the 8/1 about Grands Crus for the King George with William Hill. As others have said he’ll surely be close to favorite. I never saw him as an RSA horse but at Kempton his speed should come to the fore and he looked impressive in the Feltham. I see he’s still 8/1 with Stan James.
King George
€10 e/w Grands Crus @ 8/1 (William Hill)+ €322.22
April 5, 2012 at 11:01 #399356The Powers Gold Cup is a very intriguing affair on Sunday, with Cheltenham form being brought to the equation by Call The Police and strong Irish form by Flemenstar and Rathlin. Flemenstar has been very impressive this season, hacking up Leopardstown at Christmas being the highlight. Rathlin looked very good last time out also, but I think he needs cut in the ground to dominate. He could get that if rain comes, but as far as I know there’s little rain forecast. Given that Flemenstar has been so proficient on soft going, I think it might be worth taking the top two on with something that is proven on good, namely CALL THE POLICE.
Even on soft ground I think he’s an each way bet to nothing. His run behind Last Instalment showed he was on an upward curve imo and that continued with a good run at Cheltenham. He wasn’t knocked around there when it was obvious the front two had it between them and by the way Willie Mullins talks about him I think he could still be improving. If the ground is good there’s a chance Flemenstar won’t even run, and in that case he’ll be sub-2/1 imo.
Powers Gold Cup
Call The Police
€5 e/w @ 5/1 (Totesport)Also:
€5 e/w @ 5/1 (Totesport FREEBET)+ €312.22
April 7, 2012 at 12:38 #399601Bradley has his first run since the Foxhunters over 3m 4f at Haydock today. The step up in trip will help no end, he was only getting going towards the finish at Cheltenham. It doesn’t look the strongest race and he should be thereabouts.
4.40 Haydock
Bradley
€5 e/w @ 5/1 (Totesport)+ €302.22
