A good evening to one and all, in main to PETE, MIKE and CRIZZY.

As i had an early Finish today, ( for good behaviour i’m told ), believe that if you will  ,and having just invaded Bookies Index to find that all Tournaments as yet are not priced up i thought given the early start due to the Accenture World Matchplay, i will forward my opinions on that, as well as the Mayakoba Classic and the Moonah Classic in this segment.

Ok beginning with the Accenture World Matchplay and the first player to come of the page is of course the headmaster, i see there are 3’s available in places, ok might look brilliant come Sunday Night but you know me i won’t be entertaining that, as to triumph he has to win 7 Matches, of Course not saying that he can’t :) .

Ernie’s matchplay record of Course is pretty good, granted on European soil, but not sure of his wellbeing at the moment.

Then of Course there is last years winner a certain Henrik Stenson, who i feel must go close again but regretfully i will be passing him to room 101 this week along with Ernie and Jim Furyk who spat the dummy out rather easily last week  .

I am in somewhat of a Quandry with who to go for but having crossed the T’s and dotted the I’s i will go in to battle with Padraig Harrington again and one at a price Robert Karlsson, i really can’t make my mind up for a third choice so as the saying goes, when in doubt leave them out.

Whilst at work today, i had a look at the First round matches, one that leapt of the page was Andres Romero, who whilst being all or nothing i will be having a reasonable investment to take care of the Goose who has simply gone into decline rather quickly, i hope he is able to sort it out but until that happens which could of course be Wednesday i feel that you have to take him on.

Up next the Mayakoba Classic, this is more like it 20’s and upwards the Field.

Stepping up to the plate here will be Bubba Watson, Fred Funk, and Kevin Stadler, had umd and aghd with Jose Coceras but after a great deal of thought decided not on this occasion.

Finally for Part one we take a look at the Moonah Classic, i am in an even bigger Quandry here than was the case in the Accenture so stakes will be kept to a Minimun and what’ s more i will be going it alone, the gentleman with the honour of bringing home the Bacon here belongs to none other than Jarrod Moseley.

Well that will do it for me for the time being, will be back for Part Two Tomorrow Evening so until then i will sign off for now as the Slumberland is beginning to require my attention  .

    Cheers for now.

    Adrian.

Evening Adrian and I hope you have another early finish tomorrow :) These are my thoughts for the pga events and I’ll join in tomorrow when you put up your selections for the other events.

It’s the Accenture matchplay this week in the USA which is a tournament that I do not like as I am not a fan of matchplay. Tiger and Mickelson are both not usually at their best in matchplay situations so my money will not be on them at their odds. One player who does like this tournament is Geoff Ogilvy who finished 2nd here last year and won this event in 2006 ( at a different course ) but he has not shown any good form so far this year. I was tempted to bet on Trevor Immelman who finished 3rd last year but he has missed the cut in both his events since having an operation at the end of 2007. Eggs will be broken if he wins :x

My cunning plan is to bet on one player from each quarter of the draw with the hope that they will all meet in the semi finals and I will be laughing all the way to the bank but the reality is that I will be lucky if one of them gets that far. In my opinion, the long hitters will have an advantage at this course. The four players I have bet on are Aaron Baddeley who reached the QF last year and finished well last week, Adam Scott who has the best draw of the top players, Vijay Singh who should like this course but does not have a good matchplay record and Stewart Cink who looks value at 100’s in my opinion.

Down in Mexico in the Mayakoba Classic, it’s the chance of the lesser known players to grab a pga title. My three here are Joe Durant who should like this course and played well last week to finish 14th, the long hitter Steve Marino who finished 8th here last year + the S/Korean Young-Eun Yang who seems to be improving this year and this par 70 course will suit his style of play. He will be used to the possible high temps and humidity.

Having a look at the first round matches in the Accenture Matchplay, there are a couple of odds against bets that stand out as some value to my eye. These are –

S.Hansen ( 6th in Dubai last time ) to beat Ian Poulter who may still be suffering the backlash from his recent comments

Colin Montgomerie ( keen to do well to help him qualify for the Masters and a quite good matchplay player ) to beat Jim Furyk ( presently out of form & this long course may not suit him ).

    Hi guys,

I’ve got to be quick, got some studying to do. Silly me forgot that Matchplay started on a Wednesday, so forgive me for placing my bets before posting this

In the outright market I’ve backed Padraig Harrington at 22/1 (similar price on BF). We all know how well he loves the heat of the battle, this course should suit him, and he is brilliant at getting up and down (scrambling) for par. Hopefully a lot of pars will win the holes on this tough, long course.

I’ve also backed Lee Westwood and Scott Verplank at 70 and 85 respectively on BF. I’ve also backed the above three players in the ‘to reach the final’ market at odds of 11, 23 and 32 respectively.

Over at the Mayakoba Classic three players catch they eye. I’ve gone for outright winner only this week, and I’ve backed Bubba Watson at 27, Fred Funk at 36, and Tim Herron at 48.

Sorry for the short write-up fellas – I need to go and do some studying for these singles matches :D

    Good shout on Monty Pete.

I might back him to win outright at around 35’s on BF. I’ve already backed Harrington, and if they both win their matches tomorrow they will then meet, giving me a guaranteed Quarter Finalist and an opportunity to lay off – however, they would both need to win tomorrow first :D

I had an accumulator on Leonard (won), Cabrera (won), Westwood (won) and Sterne (currently 3 down)

    Nevermind, there’s always tomorrow

Ernie Els – If he were a race horse

Could he be done for non trying? Openly admitted he didn’t want to attend this event, only attended at the last minute, got beat in the first round for the fourth successive year!!!!

Will he sleep tonight thinking that he tried his best – or will he be back in his Wentworth home tomorrow thinking he is gald it’s all over?

    Shocking display in my opinion.

There are two features of golf that can be relied on. Tiger Woods will regularly win tournaments and Adrian will regularly pick winners. This week Adrian has done it again with his selectioin Paula Creamer winning in Hawaii….I don’t know how he does it with the ladies but I wish I knew his secret :)

I have caught seconditus as last week my selection Quinney finished runner up to Mickelson and this week my pick Stewart Cink at 100/1 looks likely to finish runner up to Tiger and there is also a chance that one of my choices in Mexico named Steve Marino will finish second there. That’s the way it goes sometimes but at least I regularly get a run for my money in the pga events unlike the performances of my picks on the other tours.
