Good evening to all Golfing Forumites, as always extended greetings to Swallow Cottage and MikkyMo.
First things first how did the do go last week Mike had one for me i hope
and i have to take my hat of to Swallow Cottage with regard to his musical knowledge
, indeed Arnold Layne was a Pink Floyd song so 10/10 for that
.Secondly i don’t hink i will be playing Golfs version of Bullseye in a hurry if that was anything to go by
.Right down to this week puzzles and i have to say that there is some good fair to get the knashers into.
Will begin with the South African Open, weel what do we make of Ernie’s Christmas donation last week, sure makes him a backable proposition this week but having thought long and hard will be putting him to room 101 on this occasion, the eggs await
.Have decided to go 4 handed here as despite the miserly price have to go again with Trevor Immelman, for those of you who like Duck i myself can take it or leave it, however for the purpose of this Angel Cabrera could indeed be vey tasty, my other 2 for this are Tim Clark for obvious reasons and my E/W of the week Pelle Edberg.
Moving on to the Australian Open and as you would expect the Baggie Greens are out in force, again having given it plenty of thought will only be going to war with 2 here, those being Geoff Ogilvy and Rod Pampling so a bit favourity here i’m afraid.
Next stop the Target World Challenge otherwise known as Tiger’s xmas bash, where was our invite
i ask.Whilst you would expect the host to put up a good show, at general odds no way hose, also i think it’s a bit daft going in three handed, but yes you’ve guessed it i will be
.Stepping up to the Oche here will be Vijay Singh, Jim Furyk and although a little out of touch but a recent winner i believe Luke Donald will complete my voting here.
Finally for this week the Dubai Ladies Masters, will have to pass Annika to room 101 this week as well, but at least she has good company
, Maria Hjorth , Linda Wessberg and Iben Tinning complete my one’s to avoid this week
, so as always whatever your picks BE LUCKYDecember 11, 2007 at 22:57 #130069Hope we can both win in South Africa this week wakeman

Tiger has a good chance in the Target over in the USA but I never bet at short odds on the golf so my money is on Vijay Singh who has played well here before + Henrik Stenson who showed a sign of a return to form in the Nedbank.
I hopefully cannot do worse in SA than I did last week. Ernie will be on a recovery mission but my main bet is predictably on Trevor Immelman who I managed to back at odds of nearly 9/1 on BF…the early bird catches the worm
He should go on to further success now after his confidence boosting win in the Nedbank and he has experience of playing at the course. I’m also going to bet on Tim Clark and hope he plays better than he did in Japan and I’m going to give another chance to Ross Fisher who never recovered from a bad start last week. The Australian Open is being held at a more difficult course than last week’s event and this tournament looks a tough one to pick the winner of. Peter Lonard won this event the last time it was staged at this course and he must be full of confidence after his recent victory so my money is again on him. I thought that Richard Green played his best tournament for a while last week so I’m going to back him together with another australian named Stephen Leaney who may like this course.
Good luck.
December 12, 2007 at 14:17 #130159Hi all,
Adrian, the party must have been good, I can’t remember it
. I think I was floored at the exact time that Ricky Hatton hit the canvas. Came home and got a few hours sleep before waking up with the mother all hangovers – it’s at times like this that 10,000 empty seats at the Riverside Stadium is an advantage. Boro beat Arsenal, and my hangover was cured
.To the golf. In the South African Open I’m going to have a few each way bets. My first selection is Richard Sterne at 25/1, who I believe Pete nearly followed over a cliff last season. He was very consistent on the tour and I’m hoping he is refreshed and ready to go. Pelle Edberg is another who emerged on the scene last season, and a top 10 finish last week shows his game is in order, as to is John Bickerton’s, who gratefully received Ernie’s Christmas present last Sunday. Both can be expected to go well again this week at 66/1.
I’m having just one bet in Australia, and it’s on the solid left hander Richard Green. He rarely wins, but always plays well in his home country and he represents a solid each way selection at 28/1.
Over in America I’m going to have a stab on Colin Montgomorie at 33/1. Yes this is a serious tournament with a lot of prize money, but it’s normally played in a more relaxed mood than regular tour events, and generally, Monty plays well when the pressure is off. I will also back him at 10/1 to be Top European. My final selection of the week is Zak Johnson. His form hasn’t been great of late, but if he is anywhere near his Masters winning form then he can go well at 25/1.
Next week, I’m going to open a book on how many emoticons Adrian can get into his write up. I can see ‘between 12-15’ as the early favourite

Have a great and profitable few days guys. Good luck.
Mike
December 12, 2007 at 14:21 #130162Just to add….
I don’t look at your selections until I have posted mine – though sometimes they are hard to miss when they are in bold
.Anyway, it’s comforting that both Pelle Edberg and Richard Green have been put up by yourselves – I’m off to double my stakes on those two

Mike
December 13, 2007 at 08:58 #130272Good luck with your selections Mike but it’s a bad start for wakeman and myself as Trevor Immelman has retired through injury after playing only a few holes
