Good evening everybody, or in this case Good early Morning.
Well once again it’s time to jump aboard the magic carpet for this weeks offerings from the World of Golf.
As regular Golfers are aware this week marks the 37th Ryder Cup played at Valhalla in Kentucky, here’s hoping it’s as good as the last one which for me ranks the best yet.
I do not usually have a bet in this but i am going to make an exception this year.
A couple of players to be top European and American respectivaly merit a small wager this week.
Firstly representing Europe will be Sergio Garcia who has developed quite a love affair with the Ryder Cup recently, here’s hoping it can continue this week.
For the Americans it would be somewhat ironic if Kentucky’s favourite son Kenny Perry rose to the occasion given the huge support he is likely to get, so although you never quite know what to expect it might be worth taking the chance that this might just be up his street, it is somewhat in the lap of the gods however because you never know how many times they will play, so stakes will be kept to a minimum for that purpose.
Ok on the domestic front there is a PGA event in the shape of the Viking Classic and i see 18/1 and upwards available which shows the open nature of this.
I have four for you here beginning with Heath Slocum who will carry my main interest.
The supporting cast will consist of John Senden, Brian Gay and Glen Day all with a reasonable chance of walking away a few dollars richer come Sunday evening.
Switching codes to the Ladies and this week it is catered for on the European Tour in the shape of the Goteborg Masters.
Having had a look earlier first of all i see that Sophie Gustafson is almost twice the price as she was at the outset last week.
My first two selections are a bit obvious i’m afraid those being Helen Alfredsson and i am going to row in again with Gwladys Nocera although i have a feeling that a rather busy recent schedule may just be beginning to catch up with her.
Three others further down will also be lumbered with me being on there back poor things
, those being Samantha Head, Veronica Zorzi and one who went well for a long time last week Emma Zackrisson.Well that will do it for me for now, here’s hoping Europe win the Ryder Cup and that everyone has a profitable week, as always BE LUCKY.
Cheers for now.
Adrian.
September 16, 2008 at 15:20 #181264Good luck to Adrian and anybody else betting on the golf this week

I will be having a few bets on the singles and fourballs etc in the Ryder Cup and one european player that I will be opposing is Soren Hansen as he has an awful recent record when playing in the USA. One american that might be worth backing is Stewart Cink who enjoys matchplay events.
Only one event for me to bet on outright this week and it’s the Viking Classic in Mississippi. Rory Sabbatini is one of the favourites and could easily win this weak event if recapturing some of the good form he produced last season. He has won four times in his career on the pga tour and showed a glimpse of a return to form with a couple of decent rounds in the BMW Championship last time. I rarely bet on him because of his headstrong character but I am going to back him this week. I will also go for Heath Slocum who has won this event in the past and looked decent value at the opening 25/1 that some bookies offered. My other selections are Bo Van Pelt and Jeff Overton.

September 19, 2008 at 08:46 #181595Top European Points Scorer
Think its between Harrington,Westwood and my bet:PAUL CASEY
1pt E/W @ 9-1 [Sky,1/4 123]
Got 10-1 myself yesterday, think this guy will really prove himself this weekend
September 19, 2008 at 10:03 #181607I’ve backed Harrington at 11/1 each way to be top overall points scorer.
I’m also going to do a Lucky15 with the tie for all matches in each of the foursomes and fourballs each day. With treble the odds for one winner I’ll only need one half from each session to show a profit.
September 19, 2008 at 13:05 #181628David,
Roughly what odds is a tie?
September 19, 2008 at 13:18 #181630They were all 13/2 in Paddy Powers this morning but they are all 6/1 now – I was hoping for 8/1 though but 13/2 will do.
Incidentally someone on the BF forum says that treble odds for one winner only applies to horses & dogs but I went back into the bookies where I placed the bet and they have a sign up which states
"We pay treble odds for one winner on a Lucky 15/31/63" with no mention of it being restricted to any sports so I’ll wait and see!
September 19, 2008 at 13:18 #181631Paddy Power were best price on Oddschecker BTW
September 19, 2008 at 19:49 #181662Rose & Poulter lost on the 18th and cost me €900 off a €2 Lucky15
