    The Goodwood and Galway festivals. Why, the winners in the big races pick themselves. Only, they don’t win!

    Two beautiful, punter’s grave-yard festivals in the same week; and they have the gall to call them good.

    It’s particularly frustrating (enraging) at Goodwood, when your horse is ready to take off for the finish, but the door is closed on him.

    No. I was just grizzling in a spirit of good humour really. You know? Laugh or you’ll cry, sort of thing! Plus some sort of terrible pun.

    Also wondering whether anyone else tended to find Goodwood difficult, puntingwise. The big Irish fields don’t help the punting there, either, though, it’s probably much more a case of my very superficial knowledge of the horses – not to speak of erratic skill.

    No. Classy meetings are always glorious, aren’t they. If only in anticipation.
