This horse won two decent races (though both handicaps) this season and still seems relatively unexposed or at least lightly raced. His last win at Ascot was quite impressive for two reasons:
1. Although he received weight from most of his rivals, he had a tendency to hang and jump left and lost some 8-10 lengths when on the final circuit. But he still managed to win in the style of a decent horse and never looked in trouble.
2. The horses behind him, like Le Reve (a winner next time out plus a 2nd place in the Betbright last Saturday), Sound Investment (winner of the handicap chase at Newbury yesterday) and Houblon Des Obeaux (a gallant 2nd to Coneygree since) confirmed the excellent quality of the race.
At 8/1 for the RSA though I wouldn’t want to get too much carried away. His form is sound, but we are talking about beaten horses being rated at around 150-160. I’m not quite sure that this would be good enough for a place in the RSA. On the other hand this horse clearly has an engine and will be suited by a left-handed course. Though I’M not sure he will be suited by the nature of the race next week and his jumping will also be put under some heavy pressure – but this applies for every horse that goes to the Festival.
So in the end I came to the conclusion that a single digit price for him would be way too short since his form involves horses running just in handicaps and not in genuine Grade 1 races.
I would like to hear what you people think of TYM and his chances next week.
By the way, since I couldn’t get in the last few days, I had to register new and therefore changed my name to
Ex RubyLight.March 2, 2015 at 00:41 #779325RSA winner often puts up a form performance good enough to win class 2 handicaps for established chasers. On the book TYM is one of the best rated horses going in to the RSA. However, plenty RSA rivals have not had a chance to race against established horses yet and therefore potential to improve past TYM. he’d be favourite for the 4 miler if connections choose that race.

Coneygree might go to the Gold Cup (and has The Curse Of The Feltham/Kauto Star to deal with), Don Poli could well go to the NH (and all we know is that he’s probably the best 3m novice in Ireland) and King’s Palace’s form is pretty much the same as, erm, Time For Rupert’s.
I think he’ll make the places, at least.

So don't run, just like the others always do
