All fair comments, Fist, having watched both races a couple of times further (no virtue in commenting on something you haven’t seen enough times, unless you’re Arsene Wenger ). She didn’t have to breathe on the gelding at Chepstow, for sure.
Certainly fairer comments than "idiots like her", which seems a bit strong in the circumstances – injudicious, probably; less gifted at presenting a horse at an obstacle than Murphy, almost certainly; but
idiot

Pocket talking – Yes
Idiot too strong a word – No I feel she is an idiot. Looking at some of the comments directed at Mike Smith I think calling her an idiot is just about right.
Terrible ride – without doubt

There was no shame in failing to concede weight to Shuil Royale, Fist, a horse Cheltenham-bound for sure; and she was hardly mullered. I’d also argue that, comfortable victors or not, horses who hack round on heavy ground at Chepstow don’t generally fail through lack of effort.
As I said before, Cresswell Crusader lost a couple of lengths at the second-last owing to a sloppy jump, but was soon eye-to-eye with Not Til Monday following a single flick of the whip. It’s then that Ms Green decided to stop riding, rather than seek to obtain an advantage and ask for an effort approaching the last. Another mistake there and her chance was gone, all because she wanted to win cheekily.
Even the best – McCoy (Bellvano) and Geraghty (Surfing) – come unstuck trying to look clever, so quite why she thought she could out-perform someone like Timmy Murphy is beyond me.

As long as people like Rachael are riding then people will keep switching off and watch other sports where at least you get a certain standard of quality win , loose, or draw..

What reason did she give, Joncol?

Wait for it………….. "Just got tired in that ground"

First time over hurdles, first time over 19 furlongs.
And you think ‘got tired in the ground’ is unlikely do you?
Her horse came second, your horse came second. If she’s unfit to be a jockey, that would make you (by association) unfit to be gambler then wouldn’t it?
(And unlike her horses, I doubt yours are up £19 to a £1 level stake)

What complete and utter nonsense.

I can’t read the woman’s mind AJ I can only relay what I saw.
I did watch the race at Warwick and despite her knocking 10 bells out of the horse he just ran on at the same pace. The 3rd actually gained ground on her and the 4th never lost any ground on her and 4 lengths covered the first 6 home.
I don’t think for one minute she was trying to look clever there’s a huge differenced between that and holding an inexperienced horse together. She’s no Timmy Murphy but this woman is an ex point to point champion and very experienced, knows the horse very well and she would know better than us what she had under her.
She’s got to have known the horse finds very little for pressure, he’s not pulled clear coming down the hill when a horse full of running for a couple of taps would have and she’s made made her decision based on that. I stick to my guns and say she could have done more to help the horse over the last two but beyond that she’s done very little wrong.
BTW this same woman praised to the high heavens for giving Gan On a brilliant ride at Worcester in October. A ride Tony McCoy would have been proud of was what the press said. Ups and downs of racing.
Furthermore this ride has hardly caused a ripple elsewhere and certainly doesn’t belong in this thread unlike the self confessed balls up a truly experienced rider made on Zenyatta.

Further, furthermore this ride will be forgotten about in a week or 2,Mike Smiths will never be forgotten for half a dozen much more significant reasons, his is without doubt The worst ride ever!
Imagine Christophe Soumillion doing that on the great Zarkava in her Arc? and he"s more than capable of the odd strange ride!Poor Greville took his shocker to the grave,Mike Smith will do the same.No excuses for them, this poor girl has made a bit of a boo boo,she is inexperienced and will learn from it just like every jockey that has ridden in a race has had to do at some point in their career.February 8, 2011 at 12:26 #339477AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 17716
Never were truer words spoken. Maybe I am getting on a bit but without a word of a lie I’ve forgotten the name of the horse she rode Creswell something! nor can I remember the winners name…..BTW who tf are you? your name seems familiar
February 8, 2011 at 12:46 #339482Without wishing to reignote an argument but a glance at sectional times tells you that Mike Smith’s Zenyatta effort wasn’t even the worse ride in the race.
Worst ride I saw yesterday was Kirby on Striker Torres. No chance at all off those fractions.
