I’ve been wrong more times than I’ve been right this week. But admitting you are wrong is harder than being right. I’m very pleased to do so here.
December 2, 2022 at 21:23 #1625425For all the talk of England blowing it by drawing with USA, every single team has now dropped points. First time since 1994 (when the 32 team format started) that no team has won every group game. The bookies must be having a good tournament.
Superb from the Cameroon player who was on a booking, scored the winner against Brazil, took his shirt off for a second booking so he high fived the ref and walked off.
December 3, 2022 at 20:59 #1625671I feel a bit sorry for Australia.
Terrible losing goal to concede and I think it might have been a foul on their keeper.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"December 4, 2022 at 21:18 #1625874I wish England no ill will, but France will slap their defence around like a red headed stepchild.
December 4, 2022 at 21:24 #1625875After all the shocks that’s four favourites from four so far, all with relative ease.
Easy in the end for England, the goal seemed to put a rocket up their backsides. France will have us on toast if we play like the first 38 minutes but we’re better than that. France rightly favourites but by no means a certainty.
December 4, 2022 at 23:00 #1625880As previously stated England don’t have a divine right to win major football tournaments.
The only time we ever won the World Cup we had home advantage and were awarded a crucial goal that wasn’t actually a goal in the Final.
Reaching the quarter finals entitles us to regard ourselves as in the top eight footballing nations on the planet and I’d say that’s as good as we are or are ever entitled to expect to be.
France may exploit our shaky defence in a way previous opponents in this tournament have been unable to.
We are better going forwards, but I can see us conceding definitely once, probably twice, and I’m not sure against a nation of France’s quality we can score three or more.

I’d apply that to just about anyone really. No team can stay at the top forever. Brazil last won it 20 years ago, Germany are a shadow of their former selves, Spain are good but they aren’t 2008-12 good.

But we can score two. It’s going to extra time folks, you heard it here first.
December 4, 2022 at 23:41 #1625885Let’s all get on the “Desmond” for the correct score in 90 minutes then pray it swings our way in extra time, then!
Circa 14/1 AND in the semis after a nail biter – I’d take that!

December 5, 2022 at 14:57 #1625954So far and lucky for England that group leaders have won their first knockout matches, but will Japan continue this trend and what about Spain, runner up to Japan.
The best things in life are free.
But you can give them to the birds and bees.December 5, 2022 at 15:58 #1625958I’ve seen worse 12/1 shots in three-horse races than South Korea to beat Brazil tonight.
December 5, 2022 at 22:10 #1625982Six out of six favourites now qualified and should Spain get past Morocco as seems likely then it will be an all European and South American line up in the last eight. After all the shocks and excitement, the cream is rising to the top.
If you had to pick a tie to go to ET/pens then Japan vs Croatia would have been in your top two picks with perhaps Portugal vs Switzerland which may go the same way.
December 5, 2022 at 22:14 #1625984Shocking aftertiming, I know, but I had a strong gut feeling that Japan – who I wanted to see go through – would really struggle in a penalty shoot out.
I can’t quite put my finger on why, but I wasn’t wrong as losing three-one is fairly shocking in the spot kick department.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"December 5, 2022 at 22:22 #1625985I agree and I also have no idea why.
Bookies tend to make it roughly 1/4 and 3/1 to score a penalty or not so one successful kick from four is certainly a poor return.
Incidentally I very much dislike the term ‘miss’ unless they actually don’t hit the target. If it’s on target and doesn’t go in, give the keeper credit for the save, he was a 3/1 shot against a long odds on jolly!
December 5, 2022 at 22:26 #1625986Well, don’t think I’ll be contributing to this thread anymore given that nonsense post by me above.
December 5, 2022 at 22:35 #1625987I will always respect anyone for putting their opinion out there QF

100% agree – it’s a penalty save, NOT a penalty miss.
