I remember Barry Davies (I was never a fan tbh) once saying it’s good for the World Cup when the hosts make it through the qualifying round.
I’m afraid this is a World Cup where I hope the hosts make an instant exit, having not only lost all three Group games, but also having failed to score a single goal.
With Netherlands (always decent) and Senegal (they’re alright) to come, Qatar are as good as out already.

November 20, 2022 at 18:31 #1623996The stadium was half empty by the 60th minute ….could well be empty for the last game if and when they get beat in the next game …2022 the world cup with no atmosphere

November 20, 2022 at 21:19 #1624004Monday lunchtime in mid November during a recession and growing job insecurity – I predict the lowest TV audience for an England World Cup game since television was invented.

Alternatively if they have masochistic traits and don’t want to deflect away from the misery coming for them, they could sit through John Carpenter’s The Fog or buy a little red Mac and take the next flight to Venice.

Are England fifteen nil up or are they just replaying each goal four times?

Errors in waiting!November 21, 2022 at 16:58 #1624076’Barry Davies (I was never a fan tbh)’
I don’t think I’ve ever seen you post something I disagree with more! My earliest sporting memories are from the mid-90s so I missed a fair bit of his career but I used to love his commentary. If I was to list my top 5 he’d be in there.
