The Village goes in the 2.50 at Perth tomorrow, a 2m 110yds 0-100 handicap hurdle. He starts on a mark of 72 and, though this is not a great event, we are still in a position of wait and see if he has got things mentally straight following his wind operation. If he’s not worried about it hurting when he exerts himself then he really should be capable of winning off this mark, but at this stage we really don’t know.
Grant Cockburn takes the ride, his 5lb claim reducing weight carried to 9-9. There are a few that could be capable of winning it but, as with many events at this level, there is a lot of solid form to rely on. Prize money goes down to the princely sum of £93 for fifth place!
August 2, 2014 at 10:12 #487311Ninth of 10 is not great in that company. Leaves the team in a bit of a quandary, though a step up in trip and maybe a stiffer track may help since The Village didn’t weaken as such but was outpaced.
I take some heart from the fact that although Outlaw Tom was struggling early last term, once he got things together ran some good races. The Village may just need a few miles on the clock before everything clicks.
August 6, 2014 at 16:32 #487622The Village has dropped to a rating of 66. Not sure that really too much difference at this level, though since 0-100 is the lowest grade now is does make balloting out a greater possibility.
