The Village has been entered in a couple of novice chases at Carlisle next Tuesday. The first is a tough looking non-handicap event over 2m. The second race is a 2m 5f novices handicap chase, a race where he’s 35 out of 36 in the weights so there’s a fair chance he will be balloted out unless there are 18+ runners in which case it may be divided.
Alternative to the above might be a hurdle at Perth. He schools over fences on Saturday and definite plan with likely be formed after that.

April 14, 2015 at 16:11 #886643A satisfactory chasing debut for The Village at Carlisle in the 2m novice chase. He jumped well enough in the main, and briefly threatened to challenge better rated horses at the last but didn’t quite have enough left on the run-in. Once The Village is in his class in handicaps and receiving weight from others then there is reason to optimistic in the long term.
Tentative target is a 2m novice handicap chase at Perth’s May meeting. If he’s rated on today’s run then he would on a mark in the low 70s which is a bit better than his hurdles mark.
