I honertly feel too many people are making a mountain out of a molehill where Denman is concerned.
We all know he missed more than half the season and know why. PN ran him when he was no where near fit and he still beat ll bar one out of sight. He runs an absolute cracker in the Gold Cup and then does all but win against a decent field with a frantic early pace round a course that clearly didn’t suit him.
I would say he has done fantastically well under the circumstances.
Courses and tactics can turn horses on their heads.
Look at Sunnyhillboy. He went to Cheltenham and he was thought to be in with a more than better chance of winning. There had even been talk of sending him for the Imperial County double. Jonjo was convinced this horse was something special.
He knew he would get every yard of the trip, so they decided to keep him handy but the horse didn’t enjoy it one bit and ended up running like a 3 legged mule.
Those tactics clearly never suited him but the difference between him and Denman is he finished almost stone last, Denman damn near won yesterday.
Jonjo said there was no way you could back him yesterday after that.
THEN- Different course and different tactics he came out yesterday and ran the best race of his life.
The point is Denman ran under conditions that didn’t suit but he never finished miles behind like Sunnyhillboy he was right up there fighting it out.
I think people are losing sight of what Denman has been through and what he has achieved this season.
I say to do what he has done he must be every bit as good as he was and those who think he’s finished will eat their words next season.
April 3, 2009 at 12:14 #219948I can’t see anything getting within 10 lengths of Denman. Despite what Betfair and others may think, I’m convinced he’ll love the course.

Ignorant sod!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 6, 2009 at 00:29 #220558Bollocks. It’s called trying to cover your arse when you realise you’ve made a complete prat of yourself.
And, no doubt, you’ll manage to repeat the trick many times over.
April 7, 2009 at 00:31 #220683Wonder if Corm can resurrect that famous thread…. but then he’d probably change his name again!
April 7, 2009 at 00:38 #220685Maybe when people are making a point of critiscizing someone on the forum it’s better not to mention that particular thread.

I am sick to death of people like you mate. I fancied Denman and thought he would easily handle the course and I was 100% wrong. I then am discussing the fact that he didn’t handle the course and you come up with complete and utter shtye saying I was covering my ass.
This is a forum where adults debate racing horses and the outcome of races. If you can’t be part of that and be civilised about it the keep the hell away from me as I have no time for those out to make trouble.

Very funny Carv your a laugh a minute mate, just when I thought you had recovered from stooping so low I find right back here in the gutter. Gawd it gets crowded in here sometimes.
Some things never change and some people just can’t help themselves. Have another relapse did we?
BTW the name change was not through choice. I could not log on using Fist of Fury and if you want to know why I suggest you ask David Cormack and don’t assume things to be as they may appear.
Terrible thing assumption. Can make the smartest people look very stupid I hear,.
I have registered as "Fist" to eleviate any confusion but as of yet the account has not been activated.
Have a nice day

If you’re having some trouble with your moniker, can I suggest an alternative? How about Walter Mitty?
April 9, 2009 at 06:55 #220990How about you get some manners?
I was having an interesting debate with a few of the lad and you come on here and lower the tone of the place with a series of snide remarks.
What exactly are you trying to prove?
Prior to the race I said something along the lines of. The course will be no problem to Denman.
On viewing the race I said "Denman looked fine to me but against what I thought before the race he never looked happy on the track."
How the hell is that covering my ass?. That was an honest straightforward admital I got it wrong.
Anyway you can post what you want and say what you want. I have the comfort of knowing most of the guys on here can read and can clearly see what you are all about and it’s not sensible debate.

April 10, 2009 at 00:03 #221121April 10, 2009 at 01:26 #221138Madame Eva Fists-Petulante, world famous clairvoyant, invites you to share her secrets.
Amongst the stars of stage and screen to benefit from her knowledge of the ‘other side’ are Anita Harris, Jimmy Clitheroe and 3 members of the Black and White Minstrels.
At an early age, Eva Fists sat in a car with J.F, Kennedy but, awakened by loud bangs, she realized that she wasn’t on the number 63 to Bacup and made a hurried exit (unfortunately leaving her pork chop behind on the passenger seat). Were ‘they’, however, really out to silence Eva?
Her most succesful prediction, though, came with her annoucment that Lady Diana was to marry Big Ron Atkinson, TV football pundit and cotton plantation owner. Yet, within hours of tragic events unfolding in Paris, she announced to her followers – ‘oh no she won’t, she’ll be killed in a road accident and I bet she wasn’t wearing a seatbelt’.
Yes, pay now and if Eva isn’t accurate to within 10 percent after the event you can have your money back.
