Backing two runners is the relentless pursuit of value. Backing each way is a shortcut to the poor house. Only 7% make a long term profit.
June 23, 2010 at 21:12 #302846Past kitty’s bedtime, but I’ve forced myself to look at first few races tomorrow.
2.35 Goodwood
Norse Dame. System bet.2.20 Warwick
Baker has ridden Ishipink before, but the interesting thing is that the filly is running on 3 days’ rest, when the previous minimum was 13.2.55 Warwick
Doyle has ridden Headache the past twice, including when winning.
This evening’s winner, Requisite, is backing up. Gannon will be the first jockey to ride this horse consecutively since January 2008.June 24, 2010 at 13:53 #302931Norse Dame and Ishipink both non-runners. In addition, jockey on Witzend yesterday was jocked off.
3.10 Goodwood
A different jockette rode Red Twist last time (a year ago), and it ended up tailing off.8.00 Hamilton
Ed’a A Red. System bet, but there are two problems, which are related. The horse doesn’t have any form, and it is trained by A Berry.9.30 Hamilton
Glenluji. Ridden by same jockey as last time – won 20/1.7.10 Leicester
Alfalevva. System bet.
Rainsborough. System bet.7.40 Leicester
Marino Prince. System bet.8.10 Leicester
Hairspray. System bet.5.05 Newcastle
Rain Stops Play. Ran well for a different jockette lto.5.15 Warwick
Croeso Crusan. Jockey has ridden it 12 times for 2 wins, 4/1 , and 15/2 lto. Not keen backing this at only 4/1 with a 6 lb penalty.
Stargazy a non-runner.
Looks like there’ll be bets on Rain Stops Play and at Leicester.
