There’s a new sprint king in town. In my opinion, it’s not Eddie Lynam, Richard Fahey or Kevin Ryan but step forward…

This man ticks all the boxes with sprinters.

[x] consistency
[x] improves horses from other trainers

Look at all of these successful, well-established sprinters, most of them improved from other yards:

Line Of Reason, Desert Law, Final Venture, Naggers, Monsieur Joe, Silvanus, Another Wise Kid.

His greatest work is still in progress with the incredible transformation of Tarboosh. Once the dodgepot to end all dodgepots when with William Haggas, Midgley has rebuilt the horse one atom at a time to create the complete sprinter. Tarboosh showed a now-trademark battling spirit to win yet again today and seems destined for a 100+ rating.

I hope a few big owners send some nice horses to Midgley. Imagine what he could do with some proper G1 material.

Big fan myself Soldier, and always give his a second look, he does seem to do very well with them.

Had some good days from Monsieur Joe, and though Another Wise Kid has been a bit costly for me, good to see the old boy get a mention.
