May 7, 2004 at 20:32 #52863You may have noticed I have now updated all results posts throughout the thread to include a staking plan I have been using…..
Basically I have been staking 1 point on day 1, if that is a losing day then 2 points the next day, then 3, 4, 5, etc. When we have a winning day we refer back to the last day that finished with a higher SSO, and the stake from that day is adopted as the new stake for tomorrow, and the pattern continues as before.
Using this plan on last year’s stats made an SSP of 2,050.12 points with no losing months and only two below 100 points profit, rising to 2,716.80 SSO and August’s 87.83 easily the worst month while January & March both cleared 300. The largest bet would have been 11 points and we wouldn’t have been in double figures since 30th August. The largest loss from one point to another was about 200 points.
Of course, I must stress that staking plans on big SP / low SR systems such as this can be a touch high risk and you should assign an affordable bank of about 1000 points if you wish to adopt that strategy – the system is designed to produce an SP profit so many of you will prefer LSO or LBF, but I’ll post both anyway.
Be Lucky!

May 7, 2004 at 21:44 #52870Hi Rich
Thanks for sharing your staking plan – impressed. The real advantage you gain on the exchanges with "long shorts" is the improvement on the price.
I agree a large bank is required. To my own cost without one can cost you dear – as many on the forum could probably tell you.
An excellent system – keep up the good work

May 7, 2004 at 22:34 #52872I agree with Paul. Thanks for sharing this with us and your staking plan. I have been backing short priced nags all my life and I am still VERY broke. So these are of REAL interest to me with the Betfair price advantage.
Off on holiday on Sunday. When I get back will be backing these with real money…………..kiss of death.
Regards,

Personally I’d rather have a winner in the first and then relax knowing I’m going to finish the day in profit and anything else is a bonus!
The other issue here is on the staking plan – had Ile De Paris been returned at 6/1 we would be staking 3 points tomorrow but at 13/2 and therefore 0.5 points LSP means technically we should revert to 1 point tomorrow but having only regained 1 point of yesterday’s 5 point loss it seems to defeat the object – any opinions on keeping it at 2 points for tomorrow?

May 9, 2004 at 13:05 #52876Hi Rich
Should be an interesting days racing today :o
With regard to staking plans I think going back to 1 pt is the safest option. Personally I am using a compound banking system – slow but with your previous years results thats fine by me :)
