are all of those other ratings your own or RPR?
Katchit’s RPR was 169 which granted isn’t exceptional but it isn’t bad… not sure if you noticed but none of those other horses were racing in the CH and by the way didn’t Istabraq only run to 174 in his best year (which would make him average against your Denman comparison)?
Oh.. and yes I do have a pretty perfect existence, thanks!
They are my own ratings. It always amazes me how people trust someone elses ratings beit Timeform / RPR when they are betting with their own money, you are trusting someone elses opinion. Can’t understand the logic in that.
Istabraq didn’t beat great opposition either but he demolished those he did beat, no offence but he would’ve beaten Katchit ten lengths.
The other horses I mentioned are the winners of this years Championship races, I mentioned them in order to compare Katchit’s championship performance alongside the other championship performances.
March 20, 2008 at 17:42 #152879..I forgot to mention a jockey that ‘cheated’!!!.
I love the man, but McCririck is to blame for the ‘cheating’ nonsense.
It seems to have given some people another gripe about backing the wrong one!March 20, 2008 at 17:44 #152881..I forgot to mention a jockey that ‘cheated’!!!.

It seems to have given some people another gripe about backing the wrong one!Did the jockey break the rules deliberatey in order to maximise his chance of winning?
To cheat is to do exactly the above.
March 20, 2008 at 18:01 #152892If that was a bad Champion Hurdle what on earth was last years and the four before? It was a very good champion hurdle by anyones standards.
They were actually having a race this year. Osana put up a brilliant display of jumping and Katchit has gone from fully 3 out and never given an inch.
Gtanted Sizing Europe looked to be going better and had he won by a few lengths and someone said Hardy Eustace was a better winner they would be laughed of the forum.
Katchit compares quite ok even to some of the best Champion Hurdlers.
Take away his runs when he wasn’t right and anyone who thinks he was 100% at anytime before he beat BK is nuts IMO…….the look at what he done to the Triumph field and then done it again at Aintree…….another horse from the Triumph Punjanbi beat Sublimnity last years winner to further frank the form…….and you think it wasn’t agood champion hurdle.
Laughable suggestion. Look at the race we have in prospect next seaon.
Binocular, Captain Cee Bee, Osana, Katchit, Celestial Halo, Punjabi and even Sizing Europe who hasn’t gone fencing yet………I’ll believe it what I see it………..no doubt the Irish will come up with onther one two Cath Me could be a horse who improves a lot…when’s the last time we had a group of horses like that to look forward to?
Hurdling took a step up in class with katchit IMO and next year could be even better and you can bet your life all being well Katchit will be right there in the firing line
March 20, 2008 at 18:04 #152895Katchit is the real champion hurdler, he won the champion hurdle wih a gutsy performance and holds the crown. An exceptional feat for a 5yo.
Sizing Europe had a nerve problem
Sizing Europe returned lame in his back legs
Sizing Europe now has a back problemThe above are three of the excuses I have heard about for this horse.
How about he simply wasnt good enough on the day under the conditions.Katchit is the champ and that is that. A bunny hopping horse was never going to win the Champion hurdle and Sizing Europe is not a horse I would ever like to size with. Just because he bunny hops hurdles does not mean that he will make a good chaser. Perhaps Sizing Europe will never win a race of note over fences or hurdles. The AIG he won was ridiculously weak and the horse is hyped up. Sometimes the hype becomes reality but the majority of times the hype remains just that.
He may well go onto make a good chaser and he may well win next years Champion Hurdle. Until he proves he is good enough for either he remains nothing more than a hyped up sack of chips that the connections feel the need to make excuses for.March 20, 2008 at 18:09 #152900He didn’t cheat as know one can say for sure whether hitting the horse excessively definately made it run faster.
A. Would you call the jockey a ‘cheat’ if you had backed it ( or have you ever labelled one a cheat that won you money?)
B. Would you have used the word ‘cheat’ if McCririck hadn’t of used it the other day?
Look deep into yourself and i think you know the answers Flash.
You seem far too bittter at the result.

Its nothing to do with backing any horse I’ve backed plenty of losers mate. I’m 34 years old not 18 I don’t suddenly hate every horse that beats one of mine, I’m a bit more adult than that.
March 20, 2008 at 18:12 #152906More importantly, would you be calling Sizing Europe the "real" CH winner if you hadn’t have backed it and felt you were hard done by?
March 20, 2008 at 18:13 #152907..Suits you sir

Another one.
Come on lads grow up please.I’ve made my points using ratings etc, I’ve tried to explain them and back up my opinions if you can’t back up your opinions a bit better than resorting to – you hate Katchit because you backed a loser – posts, then why bother eh?
March 20, 2008 at 18:20 #152918Joking aside Flash, you are just coming across a bit hypocritical and relying on certain rules when it suits you…btw is that a Royal Mail high visability jacket i see there?

Can you please explain why Im coming across as hypercritical? I can’t see how so if you tell me I’ll try and explain whatever it is you’re refering to.
No mate its DHL not Royal Mail. Close though.
March 20, 2008 at 18:29 #152925Hold on a minute…I’ve made stated my points quite clearly and im in NO WAY resorting to childishness.
Throwing in a few of YOUR estimations (ratings again yaaaaawn) does not validate your posts any more, or less, than mine.
Stop trying to collapse the scrum dear lad

You’ve completely lost me now.
March 20, 2008 at 18:48 #152934Im sure anyone else could follow it…if they could be bothered.
March 20, 2008 at 20:24 #152972Given that Straw Bear and Afsoun both have official ratings of 163 how come you made Katchit’s performance the same figure? Ok they are both unreliable but what in the race is?
Surely you must have used something as abenchmark?
Punjabi and Osana could well have improved lots…so thats tricky and the Irsh big players ran below form…perhaps
I dont get where your coming from….
March 20, 2008 at 20:31 #152976Punjabi may have progressed lots, but is there any good reason why he should have progressed lots from his run in the Tote Gold Trophy which suggests he’s a high 150’s horse at best?
