Probably the owner’s next Monsignor. I mean that would be a real shame, but I haven’t read anything about him this year. Not even from Patrick Mullins who writes regularly for the RP.

The owner also has/had the very talented but fragile Jungle Boogie, who is also MIA.

Jungle Boogie is 3 form 3 with wins in a bumper, novice hurdle and novice chase. He’ll be ten at the turn of the year and I doubt a comeback is on the horizon.

I find this kind of thing so frustrating.

Star horses go AWOL, but nobody in the media thinks to ask after them, even when presented with an ideal opportunity with the trainer sat right in front of them.

With a small concern individuals are assets but a large concern they merely become numbers.

Didn’t even know about his injury until VTC pointed it out when I initially put him my original 10 to follow.

RTB, I agree that in large stables even very good horses can cease to be a primary focus when they have a long layoff. But I do find it frustrating that the media seems to be so uninquisitive when this happens.

I’m still waiting to hear what the plans are for Champleve after his novice chase season when he won the Arkle back in 1998 ;-)

I think Champleve is making a slow steady comeback , plenty of road work for the old lad . Cannot run on Thursdays though as its his pension day .

More importantly Ham, have you released a statement on your layoff? You’ve been very quiet on here haha.

Good point glad, i did think about him briefly the other week there when i was trying to organise my antepost positions, ferny hollow was the other but i got some answers there.

Really do find it annoying that horses at the calibre of TNG/JB/FH get brushed over by the media, theyll be more as some of you have mentioned, “out of training” isnt really a fair answer especially when some are priced up in markets, ive emailed and asked for them to be taken out until theres some clarification as its completely unfair that bookmaker led stable tours dont ensure that “every” horse priced from a yard the question has been asked whilst they have reps there about their wellbeing

Haha jack, i had a few weeks where i had to assess my laying strategies, got murdered on a few (which happens obv) but a few too many in a row there for my liking, ill be back in full swing taking everyones protektorat money at the weekend :rose: :mail:

Ham- you mention Ferny Hollow (unless there’s another FH of whom I’m not aware!) and Mullins mentioned in his stable tour that they’re just taking their time with him and hoping that he’ll be back later in the season. There are no concrete plans, understandably, given the horse’s fragile constitution.

Someone thinks he’s back but I’ve no idea how concrete it is –

‘He can go all the way’ – Five Willie Mullins horses to follow this season ⭐

Racing post stable tour had ferny but no nice guy.
    Ferny Hollow
He’s making very slow progress but is making progress. If he comes back it’ll be towards the end of the season and we’re not going to rush a horse of his ability. We’ll let him take all the time he needs. It’s not ideal when you miss two seasons, but he has such ability we’re going to give him every chance
