October 16, 2008 at 01:50 #184955In all honesty, it’s been expected and I think I’ll pay and see how it goes for the first few months
October 16, 2008 at 01:52 #184956It’s supply and demand really, isn’t it?
October 16, 2008 at 02:01 #184958Has anyone looked at the data on other sites such as IrishRacing.com?
It looks very similar and I wouldn’t be surprised if it is from the same database.
I’ll not pay for something if I can find it elsewhere for free…
October 16, 2008 at 02:09 #184963There’s not an awful lot there which could be considered new, which begs the question "Will this stuff no longer be free at all"
The cost is unlikely to deter current horse-racing fans/bettors from subscribing (even for the small punter like me it’s only 1pt a month) but it will certainly deter potential fans from taking up the sport.

Even if that is true, surely that is an issue for the BHA and not the Racing Post. It is the job of those that run the Racing Post to maximise profts for their investors,
October 16, 2008 at 02:17 #184966Yeah it was only a matter of time but racing seems to think that it is different to other sports in that it can fleece its customer – £12.99 for RUK is steep IMO considering I pay £43 for the other 200 odd channels and no way will i be paying for this whether its the business or not.
Sporting Life it is for me…
October 16, 2008 at 02:20 #184967It is the job of those that run the Racing Post to maximise profts for their investors,
True, just like Betfair’s!
Do the Racing Post own the information which they publish on the site – eg the horses names, weights etc or is it public information? Presumably the opinions which are on the RP site is their own.
I think when this was first mooted Wit mentioned something about them not charging because then they would be charged.
October 16, 2008 at 02:24 #184968I personally wont be paying for it, but im sure it will be a good service.
October 16, 2008 at 02:27 #184970Paul, I don’t know if you have used the SportingLife before but here’s a link to Leg Spinner’s lifetime form
http://horses.sportinglife.com/Horse_Pr … 44,00.html
You cannot distinguish between races on the Flat, Hurdles, or Chases. For me it’s virtually unusable.
October 16, 2008 at 02:44 #184971any better : http://www.irish-racing.com/v3horseinfo … 6547&prw=A
