    The New One is likely to step up in trip gradually next season.

    Has picked up over £277,000 by winning the same race more than once (Kempton, Cheltenham, Haydock) since and including his seasonal debut in October 2013, so can see the thinking behind it.

    Where would you aim him?

    I would run him in Novice Chases and aim him at the JLT at Cheltenham.

    He’s on the downgrade and carrying a degenerative injury, so choice might not come into it unfortunately. I think his Kempton race and the 4-5 runner joke ‘trials’ should be his main aims – hoover up as much money as possible without enduring too many hard races in the Grade 1s.
