Sirius is in Canis Major – the big dog, Orion is further north and east
The aforementioned Procyon is in Canis Minor – the little dog, and with Sirius forms a triangle with the straight line of three bright stars forming Orion’s Belt
Regarding Mars, bear in mind the moon has now moved away from it and will continue to move further away westwards as it wanes from full to new over the next two weeks
Binoculars reveals the red hue well and it will also become more obvious as the moonlight decreases
A rough and ready way to distinguish stars from planets is to remember the solar system is flat(ish) so the planets (and moon) occupy broadly the same arc of sky (the Zodiac) viewed from here on Earth i.e planets cannot be seen a long way north or south of the moon, such as where Procyon and Sirius sit
