Bad housekeeping part one; the biscuits that I was going to surprise everyone with tomorrow [used to make them when the kids were little] haven’t cooked, because I thought my very old cookery book was in fahrenheit, so converted it to centigrade and, an hour later with no sign of biscuits being cooked [look more like melted] realised that it was in centigrade all along. This is not a good start to my transformation into domestic goddess. Can I join you at the offie? My cherry brandy has all but ran out…..
December 24, 2009 at 18:57 #265369HMMM some thorny issues here , do you get blasted on booze or punt a few bob away if/when sober
Does Kate Bush thrill or is that Yellow bird in Raveena
well all i can say is a few scoops in good company is cool , drinking alone is bad and sad , too many do it
Rule n o 1 Never punt on bank Holidays
Kate bush is pure class
Gamble , are you going back to the lovely light in Raveena ??
Happy Christmas
December 24, 2009 at 20:41 #265394Not sure what Raveena is – looks like I might do some cultural touring.
Seasonal greetings, Threenaps. Looks like I’ve got a bit of catching up to do with you.
Don’t see what the problem is with drinking alone – it means I can drink at my own pace – I HATE getting involved in rounds. Besides, I spend all my time alone now, so if I only drank in company I couldn’t. Don’t like company.
I’ve never cooked biscuits. Got my flour, eggs and milk, so I can make some Yorkshire pud to go with my topside. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ve got any of those fairy cake trays, so I’ll just have to make a giant one instead.
Couldn’t find a standout horse for the PP, so I’ve done my usual thing and blasted a scattergun at it. Nicest price is £10 @ 95.36 Hume River, which probably means he’ll get withdrawn and I lose my stake. At least I know the horse is well, as he’s also got an entry on 1 Jan.
December 24, 2009 at 20:45 #265396At the risk of being branded a heretic in this church and upsetting Tor’s Christmas I have to say I think Kate Bush it terrible.
When she sings it sounds to me like a cat being castrated without the benefit of anaesthetic.

Well the first 54 seconds was OK – certainly agree it is raw.

December 25, 2009 at 00:13 #265419I’ve made the cauliflower cheese with very strong cheese that smells a bit parmesany [ie vomity]. As my daughter is only just at the end of three months of morning sickness this isn’t going to go down well..if at all. It even makes me feel sick. Oh dear. The biscuits are edible albeit rock hard [as you would expect from biscuits that took an hour to cook].
December 25, 2009 at 09:09 #265427Can’t help with the cauliflower cheese – I think I did something similar in the past by making cheese sauce with some stilton.

If the bikkies are going to get chucked/left, could you grind them up and use them as a base for a cheesecake (never made one of those).
December 25, 2009 at 11:09 #265436…Granted she is a very attractive lady…but as soon as she opens her mouth I am afraid I have to hit the off button.

December 25, 2009 at 12:46 #265456Well, it all seems to be going well, except my son in law has just given me some cherry brandy that they bought in Croatia a long time ago; it doesn’t smell like DeKuypers and probably has some pretty scary components/ingredients but I’m going to give it a go later. May make the car go faster if I add it to the petrol….better cook the sprouts before I get stuck in…….
December 25, 2009 at 13:55 #265460Had stuffed mushrooms for brunch. Will now put the beef in the oven, before starting the GN thread.
Unfortunately, will have to re-open Medical Advice thread later this evening, when I have time.
(Different condition, okay, my back.)December 25, 2009 at 18:16 #265478Just watched "La Boheme", the first time I’ve ever watched an opera all the way through.
No wonder the rich keep the live stuff to themselves. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything so beautiful in my life.
December 25, 2009 at 22:29 #265503Quite chuffed that I bought my grandson some plastic wheels for Christmas so that he could put them on a cardboard box, colour it in and put things in; it was a joy to watch him pulling it around the house..it bothers me that kids have so many toys these days but nothing to stimulate their imagination. .
